To be honest, I'd be a lot more depressed if this happened on the Soldado deal, so its not the worst thing that could have happened. And by going to Chelsea, he in a sense will have limited opportunities, restricting his impact to a lesser degree than if we had lost him to Arsenal or Liverpool.

Let's get Lamela in for now and then possibly a sneaky deadline day bit for erikson, not a winger, nor my first choice but he would be cheap and is young, plus I do believe he has stated a desire to come to us in the past. We could try and hit up Di Maria, but that is really aspirational.

Not many people mentioning Gaitan? He could be an option at a push?

Great player. But don't be down on Levy or Baldini. They got fucked over by a triumvirate of douchebags: Kia, Willian and Abramovich.

Agree, it's a clear indication that Mourinho fears AVB aswell, 'the Special c***" is rattled and he's showing his insecuritys.

i don't get what your point is? atletico said anyone who offers €25m(£21.5m) can have him, only shakhtar offered it. why would he have cost way more than that?

I'm pretty sure BMG retained some or all of their 50% stake in Bernard when he moved. So the £21m was for Atletico's stake only.

That's my point.

Mourinho looks so smug about getting one over on us and avb on this one. Really want us to beat them and finish above them this season, will love it if they're not even in the title race.

Yea yea unlikely I know but it's my silver lining.

We have to look at it as a chance signing. Without the Anzhi fire sale he would not have been an option

Can I throw up a possible positive? He is better at chelsea than arsenal or liverpool for 2 reasons.

1. I can't see him having the impact at chelsea he would have at the other two due to the players already there i.e. will willian add much more than hazard, mata, etc already do.

2. Personally I do not think we are really competing with chelsea at this point with their current squad and dirty money. We are more competing with arsenal and liverpool at the moment. However with the new stadium on the way and WHEN we get fourth this year and champions league, we can't waste the opportunity like the last time.

This window so far has shown we are definitely heading in right direction.

I think we might well have been competing with Chelsea.

After all, it's not as though they've been finishing miles ahead of us over the past two seasons.

Sure, they will get a lot better under Mourinho. But I expect Spurs to get a lot better too.

Ultimately, for all Chelsea's money, they can still only field 11 players at a time. Even if theirs cost more, there's no guarantee that they will be more effective than us as a team.
