I'm pretty sure that we're a very long way down the line to completing a deal for Lamela. Far too many press and itk reports for that not to be the case.

But, as we know to our cost, being close to completing a deal counts for absolutely nothing.

VdV was being subbed when he was with us because his legs couldn't last the 90 mins. As much as I love him he's on the decline. We need to look to the future, not the past.

Wasn't nice to lose VDV but credit to the guys in charge, we got rid at the right time and made a profit into the bargain.

I expect Paulinho will play the more advance role in the middle. He has all the qualities to play that role. They say he's the Brazilian Lampard so I'd like to see what he can do with licence to get forward. He's got a good shot on him, powerful in the air and can be tricky on the ball.

I'm more interested in the Lamela transfer because as far as I'm concerned Bale is gone. We need a direct replacement for him. I would personally be happy with Lamela, Chadli, Townsend and Lennon as our 4 wingers.

If we can sign Chiriches, Coentrao and Lamela I would consider this a fantastic window overall.

Gotta say, really dissapointed about the Damaio link again. Would cost too much for someone that really hasnt shown anything. Would rather go for someone who wouldnt cost as much, say Muriel?
