He was great while he was here (especially last year when we needed him to step up). But he's a quick glow in a bright history and barely as asterisk in our long and glorious history. So I am not going to wax lyrically about him. Thanks for the FK against Arsenal to start your time, thanks for Maicon's taxi, thanks for your part of the two 4ths and thanks for being incredible last year. I could have done without the jinx. But we'll live and flourish without the petulant child.

We should end up stronger with him than without and for that I'd have to say well done Levy. Can't say I like the whole saga but we move forwards and he gets to ~~trouser even more millions~~ play for his boyhood club. I can't help contrast our stance with that of Liverpoo over Suarez, but perhaps they too would have sold, given the right price.

An exceptionally gifted player, one which WHL may never see again, a huge part of a massively important transitional period at the club. It's just such a shame that it ends this way, AGAIN.

As a club it's clear we have ambition and are striving to achieve that, but the modern day footballer doesn't enjoy that journey to success. They prefer to walk into a top side and have it all handed to them on a plate (although when did Real last challenge for major European honours?)

If it doesn't work out then I'm sure Gareth would be welcome to come back, for a massively reduced fee.

Not really. Bale is on a different level to Berbatov and Modric. Bale is the greatest footballer I've seen in a spurs shirt.

He is also a 24 year old man who can make decisions for himself if he so chooses.

What about everything the club has done for him, or the ridiculous amount of money he's paid to be a professional? He didn't just become the player he is, the club has spent years developing him into the player he is now.

He's disrespected us, so should expect no different in return.

He's been a great player for us, and I really wanted my boy to grow up with GB in a Spurs shirt to look up to.

But, it wasn't to be.

In return, he's paid for half a new team of International powerhouses + Soldado and Lamela who I expect to be outstanding players for us.

We can challenge for Honours without Gareth Bale because of Gareth Bale - could we have said that last season? Everyone's won.

Sorry mate but I can't honestly bring myself to wish him luck. I certainly do not wish him any harm or bad luck but with the way Real Madrid and, to a lesser extent Bale, have gone about this then I really really hope that they as a team, and Bale obviously, win sweet fuck all. I hope Barca beat them domestically and I hope they are beaten in the CL. I would wish Bale to win no honours and to win day look back at a successful Spurs and think "why the fuck did I do that".

It's not like there isn't a different way to do it though, and up until now Bale was doing it right by being quiet and doing what he was required to as a professional, but he's ruined it.
