but my point is we had no alternative to the likes of vdv modders bale etc, we needed quality back ups to replace them, we didnt!! we didnt give up we ran out of steam, something i would of thought AVB would of been able to rectify, not completely change the side in order to achieve it!
Hasnt that midfield left?
Harry wanted the England job, should we plough money in for that manager knowing he could be gone?
Come xmas and were shite then maybe we can talk about different managers

That team wouldn't have got 4th these days, with the raise of City while Arsenal and Liverpool are both back to their best. Only difference between Jol and Redknapp for me is that the latter had more luck to edge it in the end.
Had more faith in AVB but I think he's gone into a blind alley and struggle to find his way out,
not sure we have time to wait around for him.

What parallel universe do you live in, that allows you to know what would and wouldn't have happened in the future?

Let's stick to what we know, they won fourth place and they deserved fourth place, and not talk about something that never happened.

The complete lack of effort today.
THAT's your 'evidence'??? A second hand observation of a football match???

And there could be no other factor, no? Thank God none of our players were involved in internationals around the world, because that could really fuck up your 'theory'.... WAIT A MINUTE!

No, but let's be fair, I mean it's not as if they've not played any League matches for two weeks or anything, because that could really affect one's performa- ... oops, my bad.

At least there wasn't a goal right at the off which will affect any player who experiences it... I really need to check my facts before I start typing, shouldn't I? Oh but wait, I'm not saying that AVB has lost the dressing room, am I? Who was that I wonder...?

I thought up until the second goal we looked decent enough but I still didn't expect us to score against a City defence which looked poor. From then till the end of the game we were a mess and players looked uninterested. AVB needs to go or this same brand of football is going to continue and we will finish around 10th place.

I've got very little faith left in AVB, but I still think we should just see this season out to the bitter end. New players, a technical director that our coach wanted to work with, and plenty of games left for things to possibly improve (not that I think they will).

However, I think his number is up. The players just don't look like they have any confidence in AVB at all, and once that happens it's just a matter of time before they're shown the door.

We would be idiots to sack AVB. What's the saying? Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

For the last 20 years we've been sacking managers as soon as they hit a slump - usually during their second season. We've never achieved anything doing that. How about we just stick with a manager and back him to turn it around. We could sack him and appoint a manager who gets yet another honeymoon period but after 18 months then what? The same thing happens again.

We spent £100 million this summer - let's wait until the end of the season to see the result. Who knows? Maybe we'll still finish in the top 4 or perhaps win a trophy but fall short. Either is a possibility and either would be an improvement on last season. Let's GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE!

I relating that to our current style of playing static, possession football... tell AVB that..

I didn't want AVB to go, but today after 13 seconds I could only laugh when that goal went in.

Not even from kick off can we do anything positive.

There are too many gloating for my liking

AVB out is likely to be most supported by those who supported Arry Redcrapp.

Biggest problem for me is AVB insistence in playing the high line Citeh sucked us in and exposed the the back four. It was the same against Wet Spam with no protection

How can you play Dawson and Kaboul together in a game like this. He has to be strong but adjust his thinking based on what sees on the pitch. By the way where was Capoue today

The test is AVB being flexible enough

Obviously gutted with the result and the performance. Things need to change and quickly.

But to say AVB should be sacked is embarrassing. What have Spurs fans become? How can we demand loyalty from our players and managers when other teams come in for them when he don't give them support while they are here. Where is our loyalty? Fair play to the fans that were at the game. If only we got support like that at every home game. I know it has been hard to watch at some points this season but surely that's when we should try to get behind the team even more.

If we think so short term and get rid of him we will be back to square one. He needs time to work with his players. Surely judgement should be reserved until these players settle in.Those who want Redknapp back are living in the past. We had poor results under him. We had a better team then too.

Yes, AVB has got things wrong. He doesn't know his best team and the football has been poor. But was it his fault that Lloris couldn't kick today or that Vertonghen couldn't clear the ball? Is it his fault that Bale left and our new players are struggling to settle?

Get behind the team and the manager. They need it now.

Its down to the next performance for me, not result.

Just my opinion and I was very pro AVB but I've been pushed to the limit now. This thread isn't knee jerk either, nothing is changing, I mean nothing. So dull to watch its unbelievable, and AVB is flat out refusing to address the problem. Either he's too stubborn, can't see it or can't change it.

If we don't see a big improvement in terms of playing some decent football my patience will have completely gone.

This isn't just a bad run of results, its an exceptionally worrying run/trend of dry, unimaginative football that has been prevalent all season. A few lucky penalties have disguised the fact.

I really do commend him for making us more solid, but I didn't want it to come at the expense of everything good we're capable of doing on the ball.

Lets be honest, we're paying to watch some painfully dull football at the moment. The biggest concern for me is that AVB either isn't recognising the problems or is simply refusing to adjust and adapt due to stubbornness.

Another example for me of why you are one of the best posters on this site. You and I don't always agree on stuff but you're not too stubborn to change your opinion on things like some of us are.

It simply makes no logical sense to get rid of him! Who is available and ready to go RIGHT NOW to take his place? Someone tell me.

I can understand tactics and that AVB is the one calling the shots. He has deployed a certain system that hasn't produced, but what goes through the players heads out there? I think AVB is responsible for a lot, but the players have shown no desire to create.

Just a quick anecdote. Growing up and playing basketball out coach would always want to pass it to the big man, but our big man was inconsistent. As a team, out on the court, we took charge and played to our strengths.

Now this is what gets me. We as little kids understood we had to adapt on the court. What is it that makes our players unable to adapt on the pitch? Is it AVB?

I know he makes the team selection but he isn't playing a video game and telling his players how to play. Holtby has to be inventive. Lamela shows the desire to make runs, but no one plays it to him. Soldier is making runs but no one finds him.

The players need to take ownership
In their performance as well.

This is from the Beast pre match!!

“Many people are saying Manchester City will win the League but we are actually above them in the table. They have been going through a similar situation of not winning games people think they should.

“This will be the game for us. We have a feeling about it. We are going to be strong and we have confidence. We lost our last game against Newcastle but we’re still strong. It will be a great match.”

“Everyone knows they are a top team with top players but we are, too. We’re going to fight to win there.

The biggest disappointment for me about today is seeing that even the beast gets it wrong sometimes :(
