Where is all this stuff about Levy wanting millions for Gomes coming from?

He's been available on a free transfer for ages now.

Yeah, I'm sort of past caring now.

Season's all but over.

I didn't see the match yesterday, other than very brief snippets on my iPhone's Sky Go at work.
I saw it was 1-0 though, and sadly, for the first time, it didn't really annoy me or make me angry. I just felt.... Meh... Whatever, kind of thing...

The mismanagement of this club and team this season in general has been criminal; Levy, Baldini, Shedwood etc etc. the spending of the Bale money, who we brought in, the football we have been playing etc. it's all been an utter punnet of awful.

Sadly, we have a number of players who simple aren't good enough. At this point, I hope we bring in LVG so we can finally see the back of the likes of Dawson, who I fear will remain unless there is a managerial change. This has been the most disappointing season I can remember. Terribly spent funds in the summer has led to a team of mediocre players with absolutely no creativity. Even the players we bought to come in and do the job right away, have been a pile of shit. I don't want another summer of complete upheaval, but as has been said in other threads, I don't even care if any of our players leave anymore.

We spent all our money in European leagues last summer, not one purchase had premier league experience which was just so naive. All the players we purchased last summer needed time to acclimatise.

How were we going to hit the ground running.?

Naive transfer policy last summer has hurt us.

That is not exactly correct though, we brought in a lot of players that were doing extremely well at some of the best known clubs in Europe.

The problem, is that we have completely fucked up with them from the start of the season.

IMO, the big problem was, that Levy and Lewis put too much pressure on AVB to win the league, forcing AVB's hand in not bringing in new players as he had no time to integrate all the new players, as he was under pressure to win the league. Not to mention that integrating 2-3 players is hard enough.

IMO, a large part of this is Levy's fault and part of the reason for this was pointed out in the recent interview with Ramos.

The players we brought are not shit and were not a mistake, the mistake is in the hands of Levy, TS and AVB for completely fucking up.

Bye bye -
Daws - just too slow now
Kaboul - too many injuries
Rose - no need to explain
Naughton - see Rose
Chadli - not even worth keeping another yr
Soldado - just has not worked out
Lennon - still cant cross a ball
Benny - not good enough
Friedel - too old, keep at club as coach
Gomes - how is he still here ?
Siguardson - meh
Sherwood - back upstairs or wherever you want to go, once it doe not involve tactics etc
Levy - Build the stadium & stay out of 1st team running or F#ck off

Lennon put in two very good crosses in quick succession yesterday. Soldado missed one in particular... surprised?

He did. He actually had time to cross properly rather than sidestepping his marker and just chipping one in. The first one to Soldado was a brilliant ball.

It's funny how people are so desperate to get rid of Lennon yet he's still shown more than Townsend and Lamela on that side as much as people won't want to admit it.

I agree with most of what you're saying. AVB's failure to integrate the new players, with Lamela in particular, and his putrid style of football really hurt a number of our summer signings. The players aren't shit, but they sure as hell haven't shown up.

However, I do think that our summer transfer policy was a mistake. Of course this is with hindsight, but bringing in that volume of players is moronic. We spent on quantity and not quality, and also sent in the wrong areas. For us to have Dawson and Rose starting, after spending that much money, is a disgrace. The lack of production from any of our summer signings is sickening as well. To spend £100 million and get next to no impact from any of them. I fully believe that the likes of Chiriches, Eriksen and Paulinho will come good, but that doesn't help us at the moment. Our squad is far too bloated as a result of our summer activity. There should be a few players heading for the exit this summer.

The thing that frustrates me is that we probably could have sold Danny Rose for a decent fee to Sunderland after his loan spell there

They seemed to be impressed by him and I guess that's more his level - he's a major weak link in the chain and a terrible terrible option as our first choice LB

We probably couldn't get half of what they would have paid for him back then now since he's exposed himself for what he actually is - a pretty shit left back.

No doubt he would again do a job at a team like Sunderland but he's never going to be good enough for a top half PL team.

We should sell if we can get decent money for him but at the very least he must be upgraded and relegated to squad cover.

Dawson is pretty much in the same boat - I don't actually have a problem with him being cover, I just think with Kaboul's injury issues we should have brought in a striker who could be an imposing physical pressence to play along side Vertonghen and not bought Vlad who seems more like a lesser version of Jan (although maybe this will end up being the solution when Jan demands to leave)

I think it will all depend on who our manager is for next season and how they want us to play (with what system) we need to get a team of round pegs for round holes for once.

I want us to sell whoever doesn't fit the system and have players and cover for every position on the park - not a surplus of players for one area and players who really don't fit into our system while lacking first team options and cover in others (i.e left back) its crazy.

Sig surely will go - he really should never have been signed. When you look at us beating Liverpool to the signings of Sig and Dempsey only for them to go on to sign Sturridge and Couthino is laughable isn't it?

I could see Soldado going - this will depend on the managers tactics mostly, because unless someone is going to play to his strengths he's a wast of time. The other recent signings I think will all be given more time

Townsend if he has a good world cup may be sold while his stock is high - Lennon could go to a midtable team if decent money is offered.

Its a difficult situation because to be honest there are quite a few players it would be the right time to sell now but we don't really want another season with an abundance of new players and a new manager all having to start over - though in true Tottenham tradition this is what will happen I am sure - although perhaps this time the cycle has come to and end and it is actually needed now.

Feels like the end of an era - another era of headbutting a glass ceiling with unfulfilled potential. I think Levy will hire LVG and start over once more.

Friedel - Need a good, young keeper to replace.
Gomes - Will be going anyway, out of contract.
Dawson - Past it and isn't suited to the modern game.
Naughton - Not good enough for top half of the Premiership.
Rose - No brain. Sunderland was his level.
Lennon - Time to move on. Gone as far as he can and should be better than he is already.
Dembele - I love his ability to take the ball past players but he just does nothing with it. He really should be doing more with his skill set, it's very frustrating. I think it's become more of a hinderance to the team.
Sigurdsson - Disappointed by him as I thought he was great at Swansea. A nearly man who hasn't been able to step up to this level. A tad too slow, mentally and physically, for a top side.

Bentaleb - Needs to be loaned out. A good player, but it's too risky to allow him to gain experience at our club when we need to play more experienced player to play games at this level.

I think it's too early to get rid of the new players this summer. Let's see what another manager can do with them, see if they get the best out of them. Townsend could do with some good coaching too. The boy plays with no direction whatsoever.

Good list, I'd still add Chadli though. Don't care that he's new, he's had enough game time and we might as well sell while we can still get a good price.

Need to decide what we're going to do with Harry Kane, he's at the age now where he either needs to start getting minutes, even if as a backup, or we should let the lad move.

And call me crazy, but if someone came in with an offer of around the £15m mark for Townsend, I don't think I'd mind seeing him go..

We need world class players/ potentially world class players. We are full of good/average players who take up a lot of wages. if it was me I would get rid of:

Friedel - retires
Gomes
Naughton
Rose
one of Dawson or Kaboul (too injury prone)
Lennon
Sigurdsson (I do rate him, but it isn't working for him, albeit he plays out of position)
BAE
Livermore
Falque
Dembele? (Could be so much better than he is at the moment, doesn't affect the game enough)
Adebayor (I just feel he will go back to his old self, he is on massive wages which can be used elsewhere)

To replace with 4/5 top quality players/ potentially, promote a youth as backup right back, get a prospect keeper (so if we did lose Lloris we won't be in that much of a problem.)

Need a Left Back
Right and Left Winger, who are adapted to play CAM (Suggesting Lamela and Eriksen play as attack mids/ no 10s)
Striker (or two)

If we could afford I would go for/ if they would want to come:

Ron-Robert Zieler (Back up keeper, who probably won't come as he would want to start)
Alex Sandro/ Lucas Digne/ Luke Shaw
Magnar Ødegaard (prospect CB)
Antoine Griezmann/ Adam Lallana
Alexandru Maxim
Domenico Berardi/ Aron Johannsson/ Roberto Firmino/ Josip Drmic/ Pierre-Michel Lasogga/ Max Kruse (prospects)
Christian Benteke/ Diego Costa (Highly Unlikely, but we've been linked so :))

Which would lead to a starting line-up something like:

-------------- Lloris -----------------
Walker Chiriches Vertonghen Shaw
------------- Sandro ----------------
Paulinho/Maxim---------------------
---------------------Eriksen----------
Lamela-------------------Griezmann
-------------- Costa -----------------

What's sad is that most of the players who aren't good enough are English..

Naughton, Dawson and Thor need to go.

I also wouldn't be bothered if Dembele, Lennon and or Townsend were sold either.
