Naughton MOM, bentaleb was easily worst player on the pitch. Townsend had a much better second half and Ade put in a monster amount of effort. Why eriksen came off for Soldado instead of bentaleb I'll never know. And we just have no brains in the final third.

Best game for naughton terrible at lb but decent rb, townsend had a good 2nd half, Sandros best game or should I say most sandro like game since returning from injury. Now for my motm E.Adebayor take a bow the man ran like he was possessed today cant imagine another player covered more ground another plug for the Insanity fitness video gutted about the result but best weve played under Sherwood actually looked like the players knew each other!

Wasn't he playing LB for the majority of his time at Leicester? Definitely remember him being an attacking threat though, and making the Championship team of the year.
Nah all at RB from what I remember, I went to one of the games and he scored a 30 yard goal.

The thing is with alot of our players they have alot of potential but they need a run of games to find their feet. When they get chopped and changed they look terrible like Bassong did after we signed Gallas(which that season we had 6 CB's lol, King, Woodgate, Gallas, Kaboul, Dawson and Bassong).

The thing is at Tottenham you never get a run of games

One moment in that game pretty much summed up our current predicament. Townsend is through and has all the time in the world to roll it across to be sidefoot home. Instead he doesn't even lift his head and pulls the ball back too firmly behind the onrushing Chadli.

You cannot teach composure and intelligence and we are sadly lacking in both throughout the squad.

There were a few occasions when the ball just wasn't passed quick enough,Sandro to Adebayor and Adebayor to Townsend.
I thought Andros was very good today and really played for the team rather than himself, cut out all the long range efforts on goal.

Lloris: 7 could do nothing about the goal, nothing wrong with anything else he did.
Naughton: 8 did very well, most of our decent opportunities were from his crosses.
Kaboul: 6 hoping it is lack of fitness rather than a result of injuries that has caused the drop in class.
Verts: 6 have the feeling he thinks he's too good for tottenham now
Rose: 6 needs to put in as much effort going back as forwards.
Sandro: 6 not his best game.
Bentaleb: 5 gave the ball away far too often, offered little defensively.
Chadli: 6.5 while doing nothing spectacular looked the most likely to create something.
Townsend: 5 offer sweet fa going forward and less than that defensively. Think this guy believes his own hype from the start of the season.
Eriksen: 6 struggled to get in the game.
Adebayor: 5 decent work rate but touch of a rapist

I don't get all the Townsend bashing on here and social media.

This was his second start since he came back from injury so he was likely to be a bit rusty. However, I thought he was direct, put in a few excellent crosses and generally performed well.

I was delighted to see him on the teamsheet, but Sherwood should have played Lennon on one wing and Andros on the other. We were so right-sided today it was untrue.

We need to learn to stretch the pitch so that players like Eriksen have more space.

For me, it's the chopping and changing of system (obviously not helped by injury) that is our problem. I wasn't Redknapp's biggest fan but he played with width, we had identity and we scored goals.

We're desperately missing that identity right now, and I don't blame the players for that.

I think Sherwood is looking to find the correct balance of players who will put in the effort and who won't let him down............I don't think anyone let him down today.

Lloris 7 Did what he could
Naughton 8 Competent at the back and effective going forward.
Kaboul 6.5 Bit rusty but fine overall.
Vertonghen 6 One horror slip and sauntered back when he should have been busting his nuts.
Rose 6 Caught out of position for goal. Brainless going forward.
Sandro 7 Fought hard but a bit wreckless at times.
Bentaleb 4 Poor defensively. Nothing going forward. Not his fault Sherwood keeps picking him.
Townsend 7.5 More composed than usual but still wasted some chances to set others up.
Eriksen 6.5 Lost every challenge but had some nice ideas.
Chadli 7 Lively first half. Faded in second half.
Adebayor 8 Plenty of fight but not much of a threat.

MOM Naughton. Has had too much stick when being played out of position so he can have my virtual bottle of bubbly (Tizer).

I personally think this was a very good performance from most players specially in the second half even Arsene thought so!
We definitely lack the cutting edge in the final third.
There is also frailties in our defense.
The team selection and attitude I thought was good but a wonder strike in 1:19 resulted in the only goal for Arsenal. It was poor substitute from TS though.
We were in the ascendency and IMO he should have kept Chadli and Eriksen on.
Soldado should have come on earlier!
Its between 6 to 7 as rating for the players but 4 for the gaffer because of the poor sub.

I honestly thought it was a decent performance. A little more composure and guile in the final third and we would have scored.

Chadli, Townsend and Eriksen worked well behind Adebayor. Better than a lot of combinations we've seen in recent weeks.

Kaboul and Vertonghen allowed us to play the high line fairly well. Although it will always be quite dodgy with suspect full backs.

If we don't play below that level for the rest of the season we'll finish in a respectable league position.

could be a player has physical attributes for sure, but was anonymous today and his finishing was woeful in such a key game and time within it

For all his effort and desire Adebayor frustrates the hell out of me.
He's too slow to spot anything progressive in the way of a pass. So many times people are in better positions than him and a simple 1st time ball or ball around the corner will put us on the attack, but he wants to do it all and be the maestro has about 7 touches or runs with the ball then just lays it off easy.

First time ade, we know you want to prove you're the man but it's still a team game.

Naugthon gets my MOTM.

I would agree with all that you said and there were times today when he should have played the ball a lot quicker.
Adebayor is such an inconsistent player, one week his touch is superb and then the next it looks like he hadn't seen a ball all his life.
Can't fault his effort though.

I thought he'd run out of steam after about 70 minutes or so. I would have sent Soldado on in his place to give Mertesacker and Koscielny something different to think about.

his play's all a bit one man band for me. If you could loan ade soldado's 1st time touches, flicks.and vision you'd have the ideal lone striker.
