The above video is demonstration of the upgrade we'll be getting on Rose. Could never imagine him having such an assured, quietly effective game as shown above, particularly against Arsenal

His on-the-ball skills are more like a midfielder playing FB. I like it.

when did we start referring to central midfielders as pivots ffs?

Makes it a bit easier to distinguish between the different types of central midfielder... Sandro is not the same as Eriksen, but both are central midfielders

Also its easy to type

I think you have the wrong guy - the guy we are getting is pretty average, and does not get forward.

One of the best things I saw in the video was a run/pass in the box about 2:27, where he made a pass, but did not make the run past the defenders for a return pass/chip - fast forward to the goal, and its almost the identical situation, but this time he makes the run past the defender gets the exact same pass as before and scores the goal - communicating and learning. Good things.

Let's see how this ends. I don't rate him, I think he's the same shit as Rose, but I will support him if he comes.
Can't understand though all the messages claiming he's not good going forward, but he's good defensively, and that's what full backs are for. If he's so good defensively, how is he the full back that suffered most take ons??

If Rose leaves, I hope we sign Rojo.

So to sum up some Spurs' fans logic:

Stats show Davies is better than Shaw- "Stats are bullshit and mean nothing"

Stats show Rose is better than Davies- "You see! We're just buying an average Left-Back that's just as good/bad as Rose. How are we going to get into the Top 4 now!"

Stats show Davies is better than Shaw?? Where???

Great signing, really important to strenghten the defence and at the same time not fill all of the 17 non-home-grown spots early on. :sorry:Davies is worth the fee, so glad I haven't shared any doubts about him on here :cautious:
Welcome Davies

If we do sign him nice to see so many of you are right behind the lad. Suffering Christ.

We won't get a better LB because we won't spend the money on getting a better LB. Without CL anyway the chances of getting one of the best LB's in Europe are virtually zero.

We bought one of the best keepers in the world, don't see why we can't get a top quality left back.

People not thinking Davies is good enough for our aspirations or believing we can get better elsewhere is not the same as not supporting him if he joins.

I'm on the fence. Haven't seen enough of him to judge if he's particularly good.

Would you want to buy a defender who led the PL in "dribbled past by opponents?" 55 times. I don't pay much respect to statistics (personally I think that the Squawka charts are poor and take away from actual discussion - players should be rated on ability and the eye test IMO) but Christ. Fifty-five times. He led the league!

I've written much longer posts about why I don't think he's a good option, including his posture, lack of pace, and average dribbling. But to say we won't support him or give him a chance is a little disingenuous. As a person who felt Alan Hutton was a joke of a player and wasn't fit to wear the shirt by the end, I still felt the same hope when he got the ball that I do with Walker or Eriksen. I still WANT these players to do well..

Who knows, maybe Davies lights it up and is our left-footed Azpilicueta or something. In that case I'd be overjoyed and my opinion of him would change. Players get my support pretty much unconditionally - but you must think critically when talking about transfers.
