Reckon Veljkovic could go into the first team more often next year, seems quick, composed, and takes up good positions. Mason very impressive so far too

Just watched the Lennon goal again- I didn't realise how good the one-touch play from Soldado and Lennon was!

Me to. I was so tired by that stage last night I just didn't appreciate those exchanges between those two...its was an exceptional bit of play from the two of them.

Only problem is he is only 5'8 which is just too short for a CB for me, in midfield will have to be his role.

Doesn't make him too short to be a cb, just has to have a great jump to be goon in the air, if not then he might be better in cm.

I'm not a Lennon fan but I think he could have place in this side... Hate myself for even saying that!

Lennon behind the striker with Lamela and Ericksen could have a nice balance to it. Lennon will be a threat running beyond the front man with his pace which will stretching the opposition defence. It will prevent them from playing too high up the pitch. This will allow the likes of Lamela and Eriksen to find space inbetween the lines to weave their magic.

Can't rely on him, he has to go. It's the same thing every year - he'll do a couple of half decent things and we wanna give him a chance, then he's dogshit over the season.

Sell.

Lamela, Lennon, and Erisken in behind Soldado against Toronto in the first half worked beautifully I thought. In fact some of the interchanging, movement and link up was as good as I've seen in sometime.

he's 6ft according to wiki and transfermarkt, so who knows what's true

I read wiki (the mini version of it on google search) and it said 5'8 then when I clicked the actual link it changed to 6'0. Maybe it hasn't been fully updated then from when he was younger.

6ft seems far more realistic, he looked taller than 5'8 on TV. He will be fine then @Lufti @Yid-ol

I keep saying this guy can play across the 3 as well up front.

In some games I'd like to see..

Soldado Eriksen Lamela

Ade
..with everyone interchanging.

that looks really great and lets hope West Ham have a real problem with it and it helps them get relegated!

It's not so much that Soldado couldn't play there but that we have others who would be far better off there. Also the guy has very limited pace and wouldn't offer enough in supporting and going beyond Ade.

"In some games I'd like to see.."

Plenty of room for rotation over the season with all the comps.

He can do it.

Would be a waste of everybodys time. Far better with Townsend, Chadli, Eriksen, Holtby, Falque, Ceballos, Lennon, Pritchard getting game time there than playing Soldado there for the sake of him being potentially alright at best.

He'd be slightly more than 'potentially alright' in that position.

Depends just how attacking poch will want to be in some games and who need a rest etc.

We disagree, no probs.

Only problem with both of them are young in their position,
Mason got moved there 2 seasons ago and isn't the same player he was when he looked like he was going to be a star
Veljkovic, only spent one and a half season at CB but is naturally a DM and spent last season there. Though he did captain Serbia to a U19 euros win

The thing is, would the other players just done as well?

We look at the best team from each game and there is a common theme

Seattle Sounders(the best team we played)
Soldado
Falque ----- Lamela ----- Cebellos
Toronto(another top MLS team)
Soldado
Eriksen ----- Lamela ----- Lennon
Chicago(the worst team we played)
Soldado
Holque ----- Eriksen ----- Lennon

The way Poch likes his midfield to go forward and soldado's link up play meant that the midfielders playing behind Soldado as ways look better.

Holque= Holtby/Falque

Thought Mason was also a highlight. I know it's only pre season but he's shone and been noticeable on the pitch whereas Carroll didn't do enough for me in the same role

Agree. On the few occasions when it was on, Mason spotted and threaded a forward pass very effectively.

Having reported back on the first day of pre-season, he may be the first beneficiary of Poch's coaching methods, learning how to move the ball quickly from defence to attack whilst keeping the midfield shape.

Mason has bags of ability, and if Poch can help turn him into an all-round CM, it's like getting a new player for free. Plus he's fullly home grown, club and nation, so he would help meet the squad quota.

Watching through the game at the moment. Lamela was fucking quality first half, really impressed with Mason as well.

Kane scores twice and 1 assist and he is not in the team?
Soldado has a goal and 3 assists? What's your point?..

There was a point last season where I would rather Kane play than Soldado but I think he's been good this pre-season. So has Harry Kane though so it's a matter of preference

Was watching the game in bed on my iPad, ended up falling asleep just after the second half started, only to wake up at 4:00am to see the game had ended! Went and checked twitter for the final score to see it finished 2-0. The build up play for the second goal . Literally cannot remember the last time we played football like that.

Top 6, a decent cup run (heck, even winning the league cup i'll be happy) and continue playing football similar to that and i'll be happy with Poch's first season
