Strange, other teams WC players have been playing the last week or two. You'd think Lloris and/or Vorm would feature at least.
Bentaleb...but he appeared in one friendly I am sure (Celtic?).

I wonder if this will be another case of all change at half time, surely at this point Poch has to give some of the key players a longer run out?

Interesting that Poch wont be playing the WC players when every other Club seems to be. I'm not knocking it, because it may well work well, just think its slightly strange.

I don't understand it at all, never been an issue in previous World cups.

I can only guess that he wants the WC players to not feel priviliged, and think they can waltz straight back into a side they haven't spent much time with this summer.

I'm sure he'll bring all of them on at half time, which is giving them as much time as the non WC players, anyway.

Oh right, so he's bringing them on at HT, thats not too bad then.

Bloody hope so, We got a league game next week.

They should not be discriminated against because they are better more successful players who played for their countries in the greatest show on earth.

p.s if they are deemed not fit enough fair enough.

Well I assume so. I can't imagine he wouldn't give them a run out at all.

I don't disagree with the logic, assuming what I've guessed is correct. They must be less fit, considering they've had a few weeks holiday up to last week.
Every player has to earn their spot, and get to a certain fitness level, regardless of the amount of caps they have. It's also good motivation for the majority of the squad who's been here the whole summer, to know Poch isn't just gonna push them aside.

Not necessarily true. Wenger said all his German players won't play the beginning of the season to prevent injuries later on in the season.

I think we had the most amount of players of any team in the knock out stages of the World Cup. So it would appear we have been affected more than most.

Was thinking I'd have to find a stream to watch this one but it's on ITV4.

Made my day. :)

Looking forward to this. I'm not going to the match but I think the excitement about the Poch era will be reflected in the WHL atmosphere.

Team news:

“The last week has been good because all the players who went to the World Cup are now with us, they are working hard but at the moment they are not fit to play tomorrow.
“There are 10 players who will train at the Training Centre, preparing for the first game of the season against West Ham.”

So still no Lloris, Vorm, Vertonghen, Dembele, Paulinho, Chadli (anyone I've missed?)
Hmmm, not convinced by this. So the WC players are going to have to learn the system in actual competitive matches? I thought the team selected today would play west ham, seems that's not the case. His comment also suggests that the WC players won't even be involved as subs. I really want to see verts and Lloris at least plus some indication from dembele or paulinho that they are up for partnering capoue who seems to be first choice. Hope Sandro gets a game then.
