Singing to Sol

Should we keep singing Sol Campbell's song?

Sol Campbell left this club 13 years ..... 13 years, yes thirteen years ago!

The majority of those who sing this song have probably never seen him play live in a Spurs shirt!

I have endured having to listen to this at nearly every away match in the UK last season and it makes me wince every time I hear it.

I find it embarrassing, but I dare say I've got another season in front of me where I'll be hearing it again (along with the trotting out of the Nicola Berti song).

I watched the Schalke game on the telly (don't do friendlies) and barely 2 minutes in what do I hear??
Is this the best you can do? Is this a show of your support for your team? 2 minutes in and this is all your imagination can come up with. What do you think the players think?

Time to let go and move on guys

I seem to think that the lot that started singing it were the 1882 group, who don't get let in as a big group very often - evidently for good reason too.

Agree with this. We have four songs (off the top of my head) which reference Arsenal, so it comes across as a bit of an inferiority complex. I don't have a problem with the Eriksen song or the 'we are the Tottenham boys' song, but at the same time, it means we probably sing less songs which are only about us per game, than we do about Arsenal.

We should save the stand up if you hate Arsenal chant for games against them only imo. But I will add, they definitely do sing about us. When I was at Schalke v Arsenal they sang about us on several occasions, so they take our name round with them across the globe :smug:

I'm genuinely surprised you can't see the difference. Oh well, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference one way or the other.

My biggest problem with our songs is that they're old and boring and not funny any more.

I agree our songs are shit, but that doesn't mean getting rid of all of them and replacing them. We're not made up of Gary Barlows.

I can get on board with the Campbell songs, perhaps it is time to forget about that cretin, but the Arsenal songs? I don't agree. I hate them beyond belief, so I'll carry on singing about that hate. At the end of the day it's a football stadium, not Songs of Praise.

I want songs that make Arsenal feel like shit, not songs that make them feel good about themselves, that's all.

Do you do that knowing nod thing when you do it. Arms out, Slowing nodding as you scan from side to side.

Ive often wondered what the nod signifies?

How upset Arsenal must be that we are standing up in their honour on a thursday night against FC fuckallknowhere. I reckon they probably dont even know.. watching Eastenders in my guess, it being thursday.

The "Stand up if you hate Arsenal" song being sung at Ledley's testimonial was one of the saddest things I've every seen.

Singing about who we hate is a bit cringeworthy. Better to sing about who we love. If that makes me a hippy, then peace maaaaaaan.
