Yeah just a thought. Wonder if more beneficial to be playing week in week out as first choice in PL somewhere. Thing is with Europa it's huge this season, we need to be looking to obvs qualify and then finish top of group. We've got a big and good squad (rightfully so) and I'm not sure as it stands (Soldado, Townsend, Holtby, Paulinho, Chadli) he'd even start those.

Group stages are still pretty darn easy though. We could send our u21's and probably still finish 2nd at worst.

The other problem is that other PL loans don't always work out. We sent Kane to Championship teams that didn't even want to play him. The other factor is that a lot of those lower teams are lower because they can't develop players. So why should we trust them to help develop our own?

Yeah I agree in regards development just if only starting 5/6 games I do wonder how beneficial. Europa though we have struggled before in groups, I don't agree re U21s. Plus it's a perfect opportunity to fully rotate to avoid the Sunday fatigue but also to keep the important squad players fit and sharp so they are ready to play PL games when they are required to.

Even without a full 90 minute run, Poch has shown a willingness to rotate Kane around as a striker or as one of the 3 behind the striker, so I have faith he'll get his gametime. Even if it comes off the bench.

Also, for example last year's Europa group stage had the second team make it behind us with only 8 points. Group stage is really not very difficult, and while saying the u21's could win it is slight exaggeration (I still think they'd actually have a shot) this team has a backup for every single position so we absolutely have no need to play starters in the group stages as the backups can win it and I'm 100% sure of that. So we're on the same page for that and I wasn't at all advocating playing the u21's I was just saying they could actually get through that group stage potentially.

Yeah absolutely. A full rotation would be perfect to stop chance of those Sunday game fatigue issues we have. We want a competitive squad with players fighting for positions anyway. No way should we be playing the likes of Lloris, Eriksen, Vertonghen in group stages but I think we should definitely treat the competition with complete respect from the beginning. Something that would occur just by playing the subs and a couple of players who didn't make the squad from the PL game that occurs prior to EL.

Given his bargain-basement price, wouldn't we have snapped him up weeks ago if we'd really wanted him?

Gotta be honest, massively warming to the idea of us getting Remy. From the highlights at the weekend of their loss to Hull, Remy stood out and looked incredibly lively and we already know he can score in this league. There's clearly a deal to be done either straight cash, as he's not that expensive, or throw in someone like Daws to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Plus.....think about this. Fails medical at Liverpool, signs for Spurs, scores winner against Liverpool at WHL in a few weeks time. That shit would be priceless.

Plus Remy is different to what we have in that he plays on the shoulder and run in behind defenders with his pace. He would be ideal for us I think

Well said, stretching teams with a threat in behind will hopefully open up space "in betweem the lines" for the likes of Lamela and Ericksen.

Maybe we tried and were told he was holding out for CL football, Remy may now be willing to come to us now that Liverpool knocked him back and the scum don't seem to want him....maybe.

He fits even as a 'tall Defoe' as some have termed him. Even if he wasn't a starter (and he well might be), the one thing we do miss without Defoe is a striking option - who while we know was painfully limited in many ways - could be brought on to be relatively direct with his running and get shots off (far more accurately that our current options). I don't think we have anyone like that at the moment, Defoe's best work in recent seasons was as a 'supersub' but I don't really see the same profile in any of our AM's or forwards currently, and nobody who fits that 'Wide Striker' role so neatly. So a taller, quicker Defoe, who isn't afraid to have a crack and can be vaguely accurate, would definitely have a role in our squad at the moment in my opinion.

Liverpool wanted him and they seem - generally - to be reaping the benefit of quick and direct attacking passing, the scum have Walcott in a similar type role.. we do not have that type of player at this point and I think Remy could at least give us an option in that type of position. I'm sure we don't have the money nor inclination to go big on someone from a foreign league at the moment after investing so much in our current signings.

If we could get a swap involving Dawson that would be immense business..

Daws and £3m for Remy. Sorted. Send them Kane on loan as a sweetener.

If it all goes to plan, Kaboul, Carroll, Lennon and Sandro out. £30m + £12.5m already garnered for Livermore and Defoe.

Spunk £20m on MS and £17m on MM. Leave J-Rod until January.

Walker, Naughts, Fryers, Rose, BD, MS, Mason, Bentaleb, Townsend all HG. 26 man squad in total, no need to register Bentaleb so 25.

Easy :)

I do think we need a runner in behind but I'd prefer Jay Rodriguez if I'm honest...still I wouldn't mind Remy because he'd exploit space for teams who push up and play a high line, I think he'd be a great weapon to be honest.

Mate, that won't work because if Remy was going to play on the left, we'd only have to players for the striker position, which isn't enough.

Kane must stay with us this season, unless we are getting another striker, and we're probably not going to do that.

Remy can operate in both positions, so 3 strikers. What's the point in Kane staying also if Remy comes? 3 strikers better than him there. Why not loan him out so Dim or Harry can give him games every week?

Kane may be better (get better quicker) staying with us. Like Townsend, this could be a breakthrough season for him. It comes down to what Poch has seen in training I guess.
