So what's everyone's thoughts on this? On the surface a good initiative, I always hear that Homophobia is still an issue at Football (although I have never seen evidence of this myself).

However according to the weekends program, members seem to be elegible for Priority Ticketing. I don't hold with 'reverse discrimination' at all, so don't like this tbh. Unless i am misreading the intent and members get priorty tickets to Proud Lilywhites events, but I don't think that's what it's saying.

What's everyone else's thoughts on this? Is homophobia such an issue in Football that Gay and Lesbian people need special attention and priority over Hetrosexual fans?

A good initiative but will be interesting to see what they actually do.

I think homosexuality is still an incredibly taboo subject in football which is amazing considering it's the 21st century, so anything that can be done to try and reverse that is a good idea.

Surely they get priority tickets because they're a supporters group, not because of their sexuality.

They get the same amount of priority as any other supporter's group, no? At any rate, it's nice to see them get a bit of coverage.

All of our supporters should be treated as equals as they are all human beings, but I don't see a football ground as a place to fly a gay flag or whatever, it has nothing to do with football at all. Sexuality, like religion should have no place in football imo. Everyone in the stadium should have one thing in common, a love for football, and it should be left at that.

I've noticed the flag in the stadium and wondered who's it was, it takes a fair ammount of guts to fly that at a football ground so good on them I say. I don't see a problem with it, if it makes anyone uncomfortable then that's their problem really.

Whilst the utopia is a situation where religion, race, sexuality etc are all non-issues in football, the fact remains that at the moment homophobia is an issue in football, as partly evidenced by the fact that there are no openly gay players.

It's actually an issue with sport in general, and not just a problem in England either.

So if a group want to show that they are proud to be gay spurs fans, then I think that can only be a good thing. After all we are a club that has just gone through a fairly big debate over our affiliation with another persecuted group and the chants we use to reflect that.

I can't agree with that. I for one go to football matches and come on to forums like this for a release from matters such as sexuality, religion etc so I don't want to see any of it when I go to a game. It's not really acceptable for anyone to be made feel uncomfortable at a football match? Surely the reason for this group is so that they can feel more comfortable at games or something, if in turn it makes others uncomfortable I don't see it a good solution.

Why should you be proud of something you can't control? I've never gotten that.

I'm no more proud to be straight than I am proud to be English, proud to be white or proud to be male. I'm not proud of anything bestowed upon me by chance/science/circumstance.

Ah, this has kicked off in here as well as Twitter I see. Some people really getting their knickers in a twist about it last night.

I'm not denying that it is a problem, just that I don't see having gay flags or anything at the ground as a good solution to the problem. Only my opinion of course and I have nothing against the group whatsoever.

But how does their flag affect anyone else at all? It's just a flag, you don't really have to look at it.

It's on TV loads and is the brightest, most striking rainbow cover. I challenge people not to look at it! It's made for attention.

I wouldn't say "kicked off" is the right description, there's a good debate to be had though.

There are plenty of openly gay fans, so maybe the problem is with the players not the fans?

It's obviously not the only solution, but one of the issues is that I suspect there's still a general culture of fear around being gay at a football match, so if one group stands up against that then I think that's a positive step generally.

Ok maybe it's not possible to avoid seeing it but even so, the flag doesn't do anything but sit in the corner being a flag. It doesn't sprout legs and stand in front of you blocking the pitch or kick the back of your seat, I just don't see it as a big deal.
