Even if this is a significant issue for him, I just don't see what he stands to gain by going public with it as we can't change it anytime soon. Could just have said, we need to find a solution against teams that sit deep when they come to WHL and left it at that.

I'm really worried now about Poch's mindset. He's obviously beginning to feel the strain if he's making wanky excuses like this. Can see him going the way of the AVB at this rate. Really hope not, but this is the nature of the beast at WHL these days.

Well, Pochettino seems like a fairly astute gentleman, so I assume he didn't mean it as an excuse (please, god no!) for our current abysmal form... Because it wasn't like we thrived like pigs in a clover at The Emirates (the largest pitch.)

He's probably been asked specifically about the size of the pitch and the the AVB interview last year. This article (as has been pointed out by others) is designed to turn Spurs fans against him and create more stories for the papers to write about. Just look at the headline, it's a load of bollocks.

Why don't more fans see through this manipulation? Open your eyes instead of switching straight to angry mode!

I really don't believe this article.

If the pitch where we are playing 20+ games a season is too small for Poch's tactics then its clear that Poch needs to change the tactics to fit the pitch.

However the likes of Lamela always play narrow and as Poch uses inverted wingers - rarely going outside their man, width cannot be an issue for them.

In theory we are reliant on the fullbacks providing width by going up and down the wings, but even they don't seem to be chalk on their boots.

So I can't believe Poch is seriously putting forward the view that the size of the pitch is a problem - maybe a journalist creating a story out of not a lot or Poch winding up a journo.........

Is this the same pitch we've always played on?!
I hate this fucking excuse.
Not that we play with any width anyway?!
And to hear that the mumbling, incomprehensible MoPo fancies himself as the team psychologist with his South American colleagues - is just frightening!
I'm not liking the way this tenure is going - not one little bit.

No no no no no no no no no no no no....

Come on Poooch, it is down to some iffy team selections (Ade) and some piss poor attitudes from some players.

Don't start mugging us fans off, it won't end well.

Laugh all you like but the size of the pitch is definitely a factor. It's up there with lack of atmosphere as one of the reasons were so poor at home.

I think it is down to the wrong type of grass

I understand arugula is very popular these days. Or perhaps the young players would take to the equally topical kale pitch? We have to understand that in this day an age of Anonymous and Occupy, the youth have different values. If this means supporting locally, organically grown pitches at slightly higher prices, we should understand the underpinning benefits of this approach.

"It’s true that our style means we need a bigger space to play and that White Hart Lane is a little bit tight"

Our "style" uses little if any width. I fucking give in, i mean i understand that he needs time and is trying very hard to shape the team but this excuse is just bullshit.

He brought his Saints side here and no doubt has watched Spurs a few times before joining us therefore was aware of all things pitch size. If it's good enough to field a side for the CL quarter finals and deliver two top four finishes then it should be good enough for him to put a side together that can defend a goal seven seconds into a half.

This is really a sour excuse.

Well played news media for taking comments out of context(again). Some of you folks need to read the article in its entirety before making comments.

hmm we had one of the better home records in Harry's last season and AVBs first season. Seeing Poch say the pitch is too tight for our style made me cringe.

What's screwing up our style is that the players are substandard/ aren't comfortable with the system still

Maybe lost in translation?

Reporter - 'What happened in the last match Poch?'
Poch - 'Hummm we have much crap on pitch'
Reporter - 'You have a crap pitch?'
Poch - 'Yes. We crap and have a small ment...'
Repoter - 'metrics'.
Poch - 'ermmmmm'
Repoter -'That's all Podgypoch' :sneaky:

Poor Poch. That's back this man.

I don't think its such a stupid comment about the pitch !
Think about it, why do think Townsend looks class for England and crap for Spurs ?
Its not that England have better plays !
