Probably bullshitty

Liverpool and Tottenham are set to launch £25million bids for Chelsea star Andre Schurrle in January.

The Germany international has become a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge despite shining for his country during their victorious World Cup campaign in Brazil, with Jose Mourinho openly criticising the forward's inconsistent performances.
Schurrle linked up with the Blues in 2013 from Bayer Leverkusen for £18m, but has only found the back of the net 11 times in 54 appearances, and reports claim that his manager is running out of patience.

Chelsea have been keeping tabs on a number of attackers, most recently Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus, and it has now been claimed that Schurrle will be allowed to depart the club in the upcoming transfer window.
Numerous European giants have been linked with bids for the 24-year-old, including Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, but it is understood that Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham have joined the hunt for Schurrle's signature.
Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino are both struggling to get their team firing, and are desperate to land the former Mainz youngster as they look to get their seasons back on track.

I think he's class though. Works very bloody hard and has a fantastic knack of ghosting in to get on to the end of through balls. Works at Chelsea, but imagine the amount of wasted runs he'd be making with us! :LOL:

The only reason Chelsea wouldn't do business with us is Levy wouldn't pay what they want (and other clubs will)

Plus most likely their players wouldn't want to come to us

Chelsea don't see us as rivals on any level and wouldn't care about dealing with us if we were offerring the deal most beneficial to them

Excellent player and I'd love him at our club but he's the type of player that would cost more and command higher wages than we will pay and I simply can't see it happening for those reasons not for some paranoid belief that Chelsea refuse to deal with us because we're rivals or they're still holding grudges for the arneson and Modric situations

Pretty odd thing to say, its got nothing to do with paranoia. Chelsea are too wealthy, they don't have to deal with us and have chosen not to. Whether its to do with London rivalry, the hatred between the 2 clubs, or our refusal to sell them Modric, they don't deal with us.

Have they ever said they've chosen not to deal with us?

I don't think we even register on their radar to worry about "not dealing with us"

The only reason they don't deal with us in my opinion is because Levy likes to drive a hard bargain and any offer he will come up with will be bettered by another potential buyer because pretty much all their assets are desirable to numerous clubs and they can afford to hold out for the price they want

Its nothing to do with them choosing not to deal with us personally in my opinion just that we're never the club to offer them the best deal

If we paid the money they wanted to help them with their FFP restrictions they'd happily deal with us imo - it;s just that we never will

Cant figure out which part of this story i find least believable, Shurrle being happy to come to us, Chelsea happy to deal with us or the part about Levy spending 25 mil on a player in January.....

Definitely the 25 million part.

Sorry, I have to disagree. There have been too many stories of really bad relations between the two clubs to ignore. I don't think it is a 'paranoid belief'.

I do agree that Schurrle wouldn't consider us, and that we wouldn't match what he's earning at Chelseas.
