He is predictable. Any good defender will know how to deal with him but against the lesser teams he will do well. However he is a fucking liability as he showed against Everton many times but especially when he gave away a corner yesterday because he was afraid to use his kipper right foot.

When will he ever go on the outside. He's not slow and has great technique but he never
does it. Also watching him yesterday he never plays the simple ball until it's too late. Until he does that he will flatter to deceive imo.

He's still very raw

He's not slow but he's doesn't have damaging pace, he doesn't know when and where to pass the ball, when to cut inside and when to go wide. His decision making has to improve (he has plenty of time to develop this)

He also needs to develop some strength and power, become more explosive so he can make things happen more

He's got great technique, he's got a shot on him. He has so much in his locker - all the potential to be a star in my opinion but right now he has a long way to go to putting it all together and even becoming effective in our league.

As of now I don't think he's really suited to our formation or our system - but he's young and I believe he's got the work rate and ethic to buckle down and learn, develop under Poch into the type of player that can thrive in this team. He doesn't strike me as a kid with an ego who will refuse to do this so I think in time Poch can mould him into an effective EPL striker and I am sure in the long run he will come good

He came on yesterday to replace Lennon on the right. Within 10 seconds he was on the left side of the centre circle. Watching him is like watching a kid in a playground.

While I'm sure others won't see it this way, I am looking at this season as his true "first season" in the EPL. Last season, he really never had a run of matches to find any sort of form and to really get acclimatized at all. I'm more than willing to let him ride out this season and evaluate him once it's over, after he's accumulated enough minutes to make a real determination on his future potential for us.

30 million and two seasons to determine a players "future potential".

You really cannot make this stuff up. Honest.

Do you have ITK that MoPo didn't tell him to go sit in the centre to begin with, or are you simply assuming he can't follow instructions?

His price tag is nothing to do with him. Roma felt he was worth that much to them and we were willing to pay it to get him. You honestly think Carroll was worth £35 million? Of course not. That was what he was worth to Newcastle though.

Why are we so impatient and looking to write players off, particularly those new to the country and the league?

I simply described what happened. Have you got ITK that he disobeyed orders?;)

I desperately want the kid to succeed but I am not gonna mouth platitudes or ignore the evidence of my own eyes.
I certainly don't want to write him off.
Old joke-if you owe the bank £1000 you are worried. If you owe the bank £30 million-the bank is worried. Lamela plays like he hasn't a care in the world.

I have no idea what you meant then when you said "Within 10 seconds he was on the left side of the centre circle".,what relevance does it have? I thought you were implying he should have gone out on the right, but was just in centre, I.e. Like a kid at school who just follows the ball and has no idea what he's doing. If that isn't what you meant, I apologise.

So you're saying Lamela should be worried about the bank?

So if he cost 50-60 million you'd still recommended we would be expected to wait two seasons to establish his "future potential".
I think your confusing Man Citeh with Spurs who can just spend money like confetti. Sorry but it's abject crap to write that the price tag has nothing to do with him. It has everything to do with him.

Mason, Bentaleb and Kane are streets ahead of Lamela and cost sod all, then again the price tag has nothing to do with any of them according to you.

I think we get hung up on who cost what a bit too much. All these comments like "I wouldnt pay X for player y". Well don't then! Its not your money anyway...

A better way to look at Lamela and last years signings is to say that we swapped Gareth Bale for Chadli, Eriksen, Paulinho, Lamela, Chirches, Soldado & Capoue. Was that good business? Well I would have preferred Bale to stay but he didnt want to. Did we get the best we could from that money we received from the players available at the time and those that would be interested to play at Spurs? At the time it looked pretty good. Now there are some question marks but it never has been an exact science. Will we get our money back overall on these players? Maybe, maybe not. But I ain't gonna fret as it ain't my money.....

Some of these excuses for Lamela's incompetence is getting funnier every day.
Still waiting for his first good '90 minute' performance in PL.
