I think Dier is better than Fazio right now, and I think he will pull even further away from Fazio as he continues to get more experience from game time. IMO Dier and Vertonghen should be our first choice available pairing for the rest of the season, and Kaboul/Fazio/Chiriches should be on the bench until they prove themselves worthy contenders for the shirt in substitute/second string appearances.

Also Dier's got goals in him.

Yep. Unless we were up against someone like Andy Carroll etc. then I see no reason why you would choose Fazio over Dier. The kid looks to have much more to his game and we should persist with him.

We have loads of games to go, both will be used. Feel more comfortable with Dier, but Fazio is not a bad replacement (even though he can scare the shit out of you sometimes).

Was very impressed with his performance today. Calm, good on the ball, worked well with Jan. As others have said, he's also a goal threat with his head. I think he's clearly ahead of Fazio in Poch's thinking.

I meant as 'first choice' going forward. We'll see rotation no doubt, but for the centre backs I'm not sure how much longer that needs to continue, heading into the last couple of months of the season.

Wonderfully assured performance and works along side jan extremely well. He is also disceptively fast as well which is also a huge bonus for us at centre half. Very impressed thus far with Eric and hope he continues progressing even more.

Possibly 26 games left to play.

Excellent today. Woy Hodgson looking on. Must have given him something to contemplate. Looks an absolute gem for the amount we paid and with him we have youth right through the spine of the team.

Personally would start him over Fazio all day long, scares me to death when he plays unfortunately.

If it's true that we're getting Reid in the summer, I personally wouldn't want to swap out Dier for him in the first team... at least not if Dier continues to perform the way he has been at CB.

One small thing which bugged me though which I mentioned in another thread was him swapping shirts with Özil today. I don't think I've seen anyone swap a shirt in a derby before, and if he really wanted Özil's shirt he should have done it in the tunnel.

Maybe it was a momento of how he bossed him in the NLD?
