Brilliant work rate and commitment and love that he tries to probe.

However his passing was awful today (all game not just first 20) And he made some stupid decisions tackling wise early on with his relentless attempts to leave a mark on ozil. He could have easily been sent off for 2 Yellows on a few occasions.

Overall though he did very well.

As others have said he had a bad start to the game, but he isn't a shrinking violet and sorted himself out and dragged a performance from him and the team. That's a good insight into his mentality, similar to Kane and Bentaleb of how they have a belief that they can affect the game and not be a passenger.

I genuinely believe that once he gets a goal he will start to score regularly, and be similar to what scholes offered Utd. You can see it already that he's getting into positions in and around the box

his passing is always the weak part of his game. he's got the lowest success rates of any of our CMs. But he's our best tackler by a mile and he was fantastic today.

Mason is Spurs.

Plus don't forget he'd never started in the prem before this season so he's doing pretty darn good!

Imagine if we let him develope how good he will become... :)

Mason and Bentaleb owned the midfield today - totally outfought and outskilled the much vaunted Arsenal midfield.

Mason has played in 16 PL games in his career - but owning the midfield against Arsenal. I really don't get fans trying to pick holes in his game right now.

He is improving every game - and will do througout this season, as will Bentaleb who has only played about 20 PL games.

The pair of them are taking on and beating the best PL midfields around - and next season will be even better. And if we are lucky we'll have them both for years to come - they are 'ones of our own'

Surprised to read any negative comments after today. Passion desire commitment and work rate. plenty of decent shots and forward passing in a blood and thunder game.

People criticising his passing. He was put in the team with the remit of passing the ball forward quicker. He's trying too hard to do that sometimes, looking for a ball that's not on. He'll learn with a bit of experience to pick his moments. He's a great little prospect.

I agree. Pass sideways and backwards and you can get 90% plus. Mason gets his head up and looks for the incisive pass.

Best ever game for Spurs today. MOTM for me. Did the 90 which pleased me the most.
There is improvement in him. He needs to improve. But this is his first ever season in the EPL.

Seeing him today was seeing a true fan in midfield, his attitude and spirit galvanised the team. It's what we would be like if we had the fitness and ability to be out there. Never gave up and gave his all; true there was some sloppy play but a lot of good play. If that was Chavvy Jack playing like that, the gooners would all have semis.

Do you want side ways & back passes with 90% or quicker forward passes with 75% ?
I take the latter - as even if he gives it away, he is quick to go after the ball again & retrieve it .

Only improvement Mason has to do is on his finishing & composure in front of the goal.

Those saying he isn't the long term answer...

It's his first season with us. He has suffered with injuries big time in the past otherwise he could have established himself a lot sooner. What I like about him is he can play. It isn't based on physicality

Who knows how good a player he'll be by the time he's 27? Too many on here expect the youth team players to be at their peak by their 1st game, we need patience and we'll reap the benefits

Can certainly see Mason in and out of the team over the next 5 years or so, a good player with an outstanding performance today.

Unfortunately I think Bentaleb has Bayern written all over him.

He brings tenacity, passion and desire to our team. He drives the team forward and has set the tone for Alli or Winks to display the same passion and desire if not more in order ro dislodge him from the engine room. Pure talent alone wouldn't do the trick.

I think his passing was a touch shoddy in the first half hour, but I think he has the mental characteristics that are just so, so important for any team.

He inspires his team mates through his energy and work rate, his determination and aggression, plus he does have good technical skills (especially shooting from 20 yards+), good ambition with the ball and with his movement, and if he can just be a little better when he bursts into the box then we will have a very good all round midfielder who can play in any of the three central positions.

I thought it was his best game for us yet. Him and Bentaleb controlled the midfield. The good thing is that his two main weaknesses(fitness and passing) is something that Poch and co can easily work on. Fitness is absolutely vital, because he will probably get better at the other stuff when he is fit.
