But is he an upgrade on Coquelin in Wengers mind.

Good point. Wenger's a very narrow minded man when it comes to his home-grown talent that he believes he can nurture. Illarra is only a year older than Coquelin as is already better than the he was at his age. Wenger, however, will probably not want to spend the money if he reckons he can get the best out of Coquelin.

I think Liverpool need to shift Lucas and/or Allen first before they can buy. Puts us in a better position.

I hope we've got good back ups in place in case we are left in the lurch on deadline day.

This one breaks things up into tackles, passes etc. Its not bad apart from 1-2 strange clip choices and the fact the editor chooses to show 8 replays of one cross to Bale.

Never should have moved to Real, but how could you say no. I thought he played well during the middle part of last season, but then lost his place.
Lovely player who could control the tempo of our play.

Something we've badly missed since Modric went the other way

Before anyone says 'going to Liverpool'- the Liverpool Echo journalists (usually reliable) have said they are not interested.

Then again, the schools are so amazing there that he may beg them to sign him.

Don't we have a special relationship the Bindippers? They always claim that we keep using their scouts.

Really good player. Showboats so much I expect his boots to be tiny canoes though!

Would love this to happen. Would be amazed if it did though, no chance IMO
Given what Trix has posted today, the Goat the other day and JJ's whistling emoji how can you honestly form an opinion that there is no chance of it happening? It's not an informed or realistic opinion; it's deliberate cynicism based on very little. I could understand if you're doubtful but there is no chance of it being no chance.

Not even worth speculating on this. This year's Torres, Moutinho, or David Villa. I'm sure the interest is real but can't see any chance of this happening.

This is hIgh risk because the transfer fee and wages will be stellar. We won't get any discount from the so-called Special Relationship with Real Madrid, and there'll be lots of clubs in for him so there's no need for Illarra or his agent to compromise on salary.

I've watched him both at Sociedad and for the Spanish U21s in their victorious 2013 campaign. He was the heartbeat of the team and got his big move to Real Madrid.

I have to say that at Real Madrid he's struggled to get a run of games, and never looked confident or "in rhythm". This is probably partly due to the fact that he's always had top class players ahead of him in the pecking order - be that Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric (once he settled), now Toni Kroos. Khedira and Angel DiMaria (when Ancelotti was experimenting) were picked in midfield ahead of him at various times.

But with a run of games he could easily get that confidence back.

Illarra is a near perfect fit for a Poch CM, so I'm sure we're all over this. And I'm sure he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet, with Bentaleb and Mason competing for the other CM position, plus Alli rotating etc. The risk is that Schneiderlin already knows the PL, and Illarra would have to adapt to the pace and physicality of the English game.

If we get him and he settles, he could be a Spanish Carrick.

We know last summer it appears that Poch's first choices were Schneiderlin and Musacchio, and we ended up with Stambouli and Fazio.

Let's hope we can get this done. He's a classy enough player, and young enough, for Levy to go all in.

That imo is the best way to describe him... People expecting fire works would be disappointed but he's the type of player that shows his true value to the team when he isn't there.

Probably a better player than Schneiderlin but unproven in the PL.

Would be delighted if he turned out to be the Spanish Carrick! Quietly knitting the team together and keeping us ticking over.

See, it is true. There is a Welcome to Liverpool video on EVERY player.

He looks like the luckiest player of all time with the amount of last ditch turns and weak passes. I haven't really seen much but this video has not got me too excited.

If Poch wants, we should go all out. He does look like he's stuck in treacle, also.

Might be but for us he is Modric...lol. Anyway let's see how it goes since we are not playing that well last 2 games and might be a key factor selecting his next club.
