I miss 442.

Yes, I'm simple. I don't care!

Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Chadli Mason Alli Njie
Eriksen
Kane
I'd also like to know how that is actually different from a 4231 with Chadli and Njie either side of Eriksen, or a 433 with Eriksen as a third CM but Chadli and Njie flanking Kane? I guess I'm stupid.

To be going into the 3rd game of the season with just one striker in the squad is frankly absurd and down right negligent.

If we fail to win here then there will be some angry yids in that away end.

It's probably worth giving Trippier a start, but I don't think he will. I'd like to see Dembele I the middle with Mason. Dier isn't ideal but has done ok and we don't have any other options at the moment.

I don't think N'jie will be in contention - thought we were still waiting on a work permit?

Lots of us have said it from the start and been shot down on here. Painfully obvious.

Is Kane definitely fit?

If he's not...what do we do? Gives us a chance to go all FIFA/FM crazy with false 9s and shit...

I think a few of us have said this before, but Mason and Dembele should swap.
We need a solid two in the middle (Dier and Dembele for now) and a 10 who can link up play to the forwards (Mason)

Our major problem is the right side, so I would give N'jie his debut and I would prefer we tried chadli OR Eriksen on the left. Neither are really contributing much to the team overall, but I think Chadli offers more currently:

Lloris
Trippier Toby Verts Rose
Dier Dembele
N'jie Mason Chadli
Kane

It's something that I said a lot last season- I would like to see Mason further up the pitch. He can link play, pick a pass and likes arriving late to the box, it would free him up of defensive duties a bit and given his positioning/tracking/covering is a weak point of his game, it would suit potentially.

Can't see what gets lamela into team apart from price tag. Wanted him to do well but he just can't do it in our league. Would even have Townsend in front of him

Regardless of form, he offers a bit more solidity. Fair enough Mason is playing well but you have to set up according to who you are playing as well.

Plus the only way Bentaleb is going to start playing well is by playing himself into form.

Giving the ball away in the final third, giving freekicks away in the final third, passing back and sideways on the edge of the final third is barely what I'd describe as 'Solid'.

Boy needs to start getting his head up FAST.

Exactly and he used to play at 10 in the youth set up. I wish we would play players to their strengths and stop trying to adapt them into something they're not.
What are Dembele's attributes? His strength and keeping possession, ideal for a right wing forward? No. He should play in the middle and give others the platform for attacking, especially a 10 like Mason who will revel in being released from defensive duty.

I'm sure this has been answered before, but can't seem to find it - are we sure N'jie's work permit etc has been sorted?

We'll agree to disagree then. I think Bentaleb should play. You don't. Fair enough. He was one of our best players last season, it's early in the season, he could click into gear in any game.
You need to take off your Bentaleb tinted specs. On current form, (pre season, Manure and Stoke), he is a liability to both himself and the team. Why should he be singled out for preferential treatment? He needs to be dropped and work his way back on merit ala Mason.

[EDIT] If I recall we conceded the two goals against Stoke after he came on as a sub, just saying

I don't have Bentaleb tinted specs pal. In fact I have no preference to any player bar Kane and Hugo really.

This thread is about our opinion on who should play in our starting XI. We have one for every game. I am of the opinion that he should play. Others are not. Its what the thread is about. Nothing to do with favourites.

He was already dropped last weekend by the way.

And who is to say he is or isn't training hard and impressing Poch this week?

Also, I don't see why it seems to only be my posts about Bentaleb starting being singled out for attention, when there are plenty with him in their team.

Got 6 points off them last year, deserved 1. The win there was the most lucky of our many lucky wins last season, which somehow got us into 5th and caused us to go into the season thinking we were better than we are. Leicester were one of the teams who were playing fast attcking football last season and got their rewards in the last couple of months.

I just don't see us coping with them tomorrow and, with our own painful lack of threat,it's hard to see anything other than a defeat. I would like to see Njie involved, just because he might actually do something different( like try to run past someone) but it seems unlikely he will play- I am pretty sure I heard he has got his permit now.

Similarly, I hope Pritchard is involved.
