He's our number one target though supposedly. Fazio for £5m is a bargain for them. If we can't use that as leverage to get the Berahinho deal over the line then serious questions need to be asked about what the hell we're doing.

And if we can use it to get the Berahino deal over the line, then it shows that we know what the f*** we're doing and we're going about things the right way.

I think the ITK of things being 'close' and 'still on' and 'possible' points to a last day scramble with regards to most of our targets and potential sales.

The Berahino deal will probably get done but there will be haggling on the price right to the end.

Illarimendi clearly isn't convinced by us but will probably join if nobody else shows concrete interest, but again I'd imagine he'll leave it as long as possible.

As for any other targets, I think that will depend on what happens with the two above. And again that means waiting till the last couple of days.

Would love to get things wrapped up, but having got this far into the window I now suspect it'll be a dip finish again.

The Berahino deal is as good as done. There is no fucking way that WBA would let Pulis bring in two more strikers to give them three in all. No fucking way. The top four are all covered and Yanited may need a striker but they ain't going for Berahino.

So stop whining people. Levy has this in the bag!

I guess we can strike Christoph Kramer off the CDM list, as their new CDM Charles Arsanguiz tore an achilles in training and is due out for several months. :inpain:
Yup, I put this in the Kramer thread last night. Sad for Aranguiz

In that 2-up formation we're playing?
He will clearly come to earn a place in the team. I don't see why we can't change to 2 up front as long as the front 2 have plenty of movement and mobility between them. I imagine there will be games where we play both and games where we play with just 1, but even as a 1 he will be fine as long as we have good support around him. The same goes for Kane anyway as even he struggles when isolated.

I don't think the price is a big issue as he will have sell on value.

I know we need another Striker but anything over £15m for Berahinho would be hard to swallow.

There's a joke in there somewhere i just can't think of one.............:bored:

Anyway's for a proven PL goal scorer, with huge potential to improve the overall team twenty million would be a snip. Don't QPR want fifteen million for Austin?

I just can't envisage a scenario where Levy lets Fazio go to WBA without the Berahino deal agreed. A bit of separation so that Fazio doesn't feel like a make-weight makes sense but the whole thing just feels like pre-scripted game of poker where each side is laying down their agreed cards – agonisingly slowly. If that's not the case he's not the negotiator I thought he was.

Too many budding Levy's in here. Players values are silly these days, that's just the way it is. We probably could target a better striker on the continent for 20m+, but they probably wouldn't want to join us and it's too late to be getting the proverbial wheelbarrow out anyway.

So whether Berahinho represents absolute pound for pound value for money isn't such a big issue. We need him more than the few million in transfer fees we might be overpaying. Besides, it's wages which are the big drain on a club as it's money not capitalised which can't be recouped and Berahinho is not going to push us close to the edge as far as that's concerned.

yeah, well, even if that's the case that's all very well, but we've had pre-season ... we've had 2 games. And another coming this weekend ... and counting ...

16 of our last 32 signings have happened during the last two weeks of the transfer window.

Agree though that this is far too late, perhaps the TW needs to end the last weekend before the season starts.

I really don't understand why that is not the case, it is absolute madness having the main window open after the season starts

However, it is what it is, and IMO it should be managed better.

So PS is saying that we blinked in a negotiation. That's the scariest thing I've ever heard. I'm not saying that for effect or to be semi-funny. I believed in three things....death, taxes and Levy's ability to win a Pyrrhic war of attrition (or as we used to know it....a transfer dealing (that was supposed to be semi-funny)). So now I am dreading whatever news follows Berhahino. Until we hear details, at least.

Whilst they may be presented as two separate deals, they are quite clearly linked. They will be 'separate' for WBA's benefit, I'm sure as said above. What will be interesting is whether SB will play vs Chelsea or not, if Fazio is announced officially today as expected.

It seems odd, since WBA fans aren't exactly going to view them as separate deals either, or I suppose we genuinely could be at odds over the price, though that makes the rapid Fazio deal stranger.
