I don't get why he couldn't start really.

He's had a full preseason with Bayer Leverkusen and is match fit.

Poch could well fanny about with him but I'd be looking to get him in asap to inject some enthusiasm and energy into the side.

It will be intersting to see where he plays, maybe he could go left wing as has been said to be better side for him and Chadli switch to the right?

Chadli played most games in preseason on the right with oduwa on the left. Poch wants them to interchange.
Chadli had a productive season last year. I don't see him getting dropped. Eriksen has played on the left and Kane can drop deep. I hope to see some flexibility from our forward players. If Son can finish, we might have a front four who all offer a goal threat.

Exactly - And Son is capable of interchanging too.

Look at Chadli and Kanes heat maps from Everton...... they are all across the front line - Kane a little higher up more often but coming just as deep for the ball as Nacer.

And Son's for the first 60 at Bayer L. vs Hoffenhiem in Aug - pretty much a similar pattern to Nacer

Here is his heatmap vs Bayern last season in a 2-0 victory - again plenty of movement across the front positions.

Also, it looks like he did a fair bit of tracking back down the left too.

I've warned people several times already, but I'm going to mention it again: he is going to be out of position being played as a right-wing forward in our side. Notice how all three of his goals were with his right foot today. Playing on the right in a very physical and fast league, where defenders don't give you any space, will make him have to use his left foot far more. Yes, he is capable of striking the ball with his left foot, but he is a much better striker of the ball with his right, so in my opinion, we won't get the best out of him unless he's on the left. Of course, there are issues there with what you do with Chadli, but I'd personally like to see a Son/Eriksen/Lamela trio behind Kane at some point this season.

Also, considering the amount of football he's played in the last two years, I don't want to see him anywhere near playing lone striker in cup matches, on top of starting league matches on the wing. Firstly, he's not suited for the role. Secondly, this guy's minutes need to be managed carefully. He's hardly had any break in the last two seasons, with Leverkusen playing him big minutes, plus the World Cup, plus the Asian Cup during the Bundesliga's winter break. We'll need him fresh for the latter part of the season, which is when I expect him to start showing his quality.

Of the 21 goals he scored for BL in the last two years 10 were with his right, 10 with his left and 1 i believe was with his head.

In 2013/2014 he was actually more prolific with his left than with his right so i think you might be doing him an injustice with your comment there.

Not sure why people aren't excited by this signing.

Who isn't excited by this signing?

If you mean people complaining about Levy's deadline day, I think most people who 'aren't excited' in your terms simply don't share your opinion of Son as a potential lone striker - aside from that he's very exciting signing and I haven't seen many people state otherwise? Really hope he doesn't have to go through the usual quarantine period for new signings under Poch..

Would hope he isn't a lone striker, wouldn't want to waste 20 odd million on a bench warmer.

Flexibility is the future

Is it just me but i watched all the goals scored by son and most of those goals came from the right side of the field...

Son is not going to be a bench warmer. He is not here to back up Kane. He is essentially our Jay Rodriguez.

I think in the near future our front four are Kane, Son, Eriksen and Chadli.

Eventually, I think Lamela comes in for Chadli. With Kane, Son, and Eriksen, we have three players who are not afraid to take a shot on goal, I think we will need a more creative player to mix in - and Lamela is more creative than Chadli.

I see many have forgotten about N'jie for their potential line ups. I suppose it's a good thing we now have options.

Pochettinho will most likely introduce them gradually, to me that's the right way of doing it.
