That's exactly the kind of complacency I'm talking about...

The issue I had was with your claim that Villa will be "fighting for their lives," but I counter that by saying they don't have anything to fight for.

I don't know how it could be any more obvious - they have no fight and have shown no will whatsoever to pull themselves out of a terrible situation. Their results speak for themselves. Aside from a couple games in January, they've given no one any reason to think that they'll come remotely close to staying up. That's just reality. Do you not agree with that?

And as for complacency, I said that we can't overlook any team. How is that complacent? I don't expect us to destroy them just because they've not shown any will to survive, but I'd argue that it's more likely that we win, say, 3-0 than lose.

I'm getting a bit concerned that everyone and their dog that is a neutral want Leicester to win the league and they will get the rub of the green in a lot of games. I'm pleased that Chelsea got beat yesterday as they won't need to rest players for any cup final when they play them, but still think they might roll over to make sure we or the Gooners don't win it. Just hope that for Terry's last game they make sure he ends up going on a high.

Before that we need to win the next two to stay in it and put some slight pressure on the rest.

Because the only thing that really counts is winning the league. It's not so long ago Wigan won the fa cup, what did that mean? It meant nothing, therefore meaningless. You get five minutes of glory and not a lot else.

Take Chelsea and Liverpool winning the CL, did anyone consider they were the best team in Europe? All they did was somehow manage to find a way to win and get the name on the trophy, they weren't even the best team in their respective cities!

Five minutes of glory for their supporters and for the rest of us dismissing it as luck.

I have always regarded cup competitions in this manner because the best team in the competition rarely win.
You ask a Wigan fan what that trophy meant, or a Liverpool or Chelsea fan. Then come back here and tell us what they told you.

Watford two up 65 mins. I suppose not what we want for the title chase? Difficult not to smile though.

Being beaten 3-0 by Dortmund is almost encouraging as we look forward to many more CL nights trying to reach that quality; being beaten by Watford is purely demoralising. Put it together with the groundhog day, ritualistic dismantling by Barca, and I wonder whether the rest will do them any more good than the win would have.

2-0 now against Villa would be good to get a few extra goals to help stretch that GD a bit more

3 more points today, let's see what happens tomorrow with Leicester.... could Rafa provide that new manager "bounce" right out of the starting gate? hoping so...

The way I see it we need to be at worst within 6 of Leicester going into the final three games.

Dropped points tomorrow would be huge and gives us more of a free hit at our tougher games. Let's hope.

Everybody talks of those last 3 games of leicesters......i think if their more than 2pts ahead by that stage they win it. We will probably bottle one game and they will have 2 chances for glory and i cant see them missing that. It would be the ultimate bottle after only losing 3 all season. We need the barcodes to take a draw tomorrow with rafas defensive tactics. I simply cant see us overturning more than 3 points in those last 3 games!!

YiddoInPoland

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Think we need only look at the next game and thats it. Last 3 games we could be top, 2nd, 4th. One game at a time, keep the results positive and we will see whats what at the end.

6 wins 1 draw from remaining 8 is what I think we will need to win the league

Might get away with 18 more points instead of 19 because of the GD

I am a bit worried about playing 3 Monday nights in a row from 18 April, we were playing catchup on a Sunday due to the EL and now we'll be playing catch up due to TV scheduling

Am I right in thinking that Man U Spammers replay is going to be in the week between Man U playing Everton and us in April ? Would be a result, even if they are nothing to fear at the moment

I refuse to believe that a team of journeymen pros and manager that've never won anything, will not feel the pressure at some point. (although the same could be said of us minus the journeymen)

If they drop points tomorrow, Palace away looks a much tougher task...

we just have to hang on to their coattails and take advantage if/when the slip up comes.

Come on Newcastle, give us that new manager bounce (just wearing off for the last game of the season ;) )

Not ideal at all really. Just gonna have to grab our nuts and get on with it.

Players are really getting some invaluable experience of being in the pressure cooker around the top of the table. Will stand us in good stead for the coming years.

I might be paranoid but I still think the gooners are going to be there at the end for the title. They obviously need Sanchez to wake up but they are more than capable of 7 or 8 in a row.

Can't disagree more.
Whatever momentum they got with the draw with us, they have lost it with Watford cup loss. If Barca gives them a pounding, their confidence should be so low. With Ramsey injured as well, there is no CM driving them forward or in defense.
Their remaining fixture isn't easy either
