They're through to the play off round now and will be getting a windfall of a minimum €3 million for doing so. Massive for the club and the league of Ireland.

@Dundalk_Spur will be delighted with this.

Amazing stuff.

If they lose the playoff wouldn't they get the Europa League anyway?

Yes, so Europe is on the agenda for them till Christmas. Shame they can't play their home fixtures at their home ground as its too small but it's not a long drive to the Tallaght stadium.

Congrats! Must be party time over in Dundalk tonight!

I saw on Twitter that it could be a handful of clubs, one of them being Celtic! That would be huge in Ireland, I'd imagine?

Wow, from a financial perspective alone that is absolutely massive for a League of Ireland club.

Yeah to qualify for the Champions League proper would change Dundalk FC and give the League of Ireland a huge boost.

In a strange way its a shame too. The FAI should be brought to task for not putting money in to develop grass roots football. It was only a few years ago Dundalk faced relegation and financial ruin, and closure. After lots of hard work by locals the club is on its way up, two league titles in a row, including the double last season and now on the verge of history.

This is despite the FAI not because of. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking salaries in excess of nearly every clubs annual turnovers, they literally give nothing back.

Anyway rant over, come on Da Town two more huge efforts!!!

That's a minimum of €5.4 million in European prize money for Dundalk this season - what they earned for winning the league multiplied by 49.

figures are probably not accurate - but even so financially that's seems A HUGE amount uplift in the amount of money they are getting in Irish football terms.

It would be about right, Irish football is practically part time. Like I say FAI rolling in cash (especially after UEFA "bribes") yet it doesn't go to the clubs who struggle year in year out. Mirrors exactly the political situation, but thats for another thread.
