It's really frustrating Poch seems set on the Dier/Wanyama axis until Dembele comes back. Everyone can see they are too similar and we lose fluidity and forward momentum because of it.

Fortunate win. But it is clear that we do not have a replacement for Dembele that Poch trusts. Seems like we need that player more than we need another AM.
How was it a fortunate win?we were all over them for most of the game,we had the better chances and deserved to win the game if not at our best.

I don`t get all this dissing of Wanyama by people in the forum he is not a playmaker.. It`s Eriksen, Alli and Kane who have been below par... I can see Dembele being played further forward this season if Eriksen does not up his game...

Both signings stepping up..... Janssen looks great, love his passion, he hates it when he misses and absolutely battered their CB's. Scott Dann and the other guy are big lumps that rarely get bullied, Janssen was a thorne in their side all game!!

I don't think it was that bad today, even with both DM's, we had chances and spurned them, Toby should have scored the header, Kane should have done better just before half time and Janssen should have scored. We should have put away at least one of those very good chances.

This is all without Dembele as well, who is easily for me our most important player.

Eriksen again disappointed and i really think he is struggling with his confiednce. A couple of times today in great postions he fluffed his lines, that break in the first half was a huge sign of a player out of form. Early days, when he finds his feet things will be even better for us as a team. But 3 points in the bag and on to the next. Important win.

Not the best but on another day Toby scores. Kane doesn't blast wide and Janssen slots home on his weaker foot.

Some of them still seem to have poch's tough pre season training in their legs but I'm sure it well benefit them in the coming months.

And we're above Liverpool who as I understand it are going to win the league:p

I don't see it like that, it's for Eriksen, Lamela and Kane to find some fluidity. They are they ones that have performed at a lower level than both Wanyama and Dier. We have 3 golden chances today before the goal. It could have been a lot easier for us.

He may have missed an almost sitter, but Janssen must have won everyone over this afternoon. Played his role near to perfection. Strength, endeavour, movement, link and hold up play- and boy, does he graft.

It`s not Dier/Wanyama thats the issue it is the players in front of them... We were pretty poor at turning possession into chances for large parts of last season.. I certainly would not put someone who is weaker defensively in that position against Liverpool..

Top class player. Ashamed of my initial doubts about him before we signed.

I think you are confusing possession with dominance. Hennessy had 4 saves, and none that i would call worldly.

We were fortunate to find a goal on that corner.

Walker man of the match by a long way. Janssen and Lamela looked very good as well

I thought it was a terrible game and we were slightly less poor than Palace; but its early days and Liverpool losing at Burnley is a reality check. We will improve, no doubt.

Still one of the idiot fans who thinks Dembele will ever play no10 for us. Just no mate.

People need to understand that Wanyama is going to be starting nearly every game. Poch loves him, and he hasn't been signed to sit on the bench for cover.

Feel that Wanyama and Dier partnership was absolutely not the issue today. Both Lamela and Erikson were just lacking quality in their final ball and Kane actually showed more when he put some nice passes through than both of them.

People moan about the performance but look at Liverpool losing 2-0 to Burnley and know that winning is not as easy as it seems. We are unbeaten and have plenty to build on so let us be positive for the season ahead!

early in the season when all the teams are settling, results are all that matter. coys.

And around Christmas time, when teams are settling down, results are all that matter. And in the Spring, when teams are pretty knackered, results are all that matter.

And don't get me started on cup competitions...
