We have badly missed the energy he brings to the team, with a desire to always be on the front foot. Trying to make things happen means not everything works but it's so much better than just hoping something is going to break our way, which is how O think we often look

Poch on Lamela..."He is in training and he is much better. It's normal that after a few days in Argentina he needs to train again and feel good again, so we need to assess him,"

"We will see in the next few days when he can be available but it is hard to give a date. Maybe the weekend is too early, but perhaps he can play against Southampton; we will see. We hope he can train again with the group as soon as possible."

His brother had a car accident and broke 5 vertebrae or something. Apparently was pretty touch and go but looking positive now.

OK there's a need for a thread on the guy so we're re-opening this in the hope that people have calmed down now.

There will be none of this drugs bollocks either, I don't care how good you think your source is or how big you think your old chap is or even if your starsign is ****, if anyone tries to start that up again, well, even if it is the season of goodwill you won't find much heading your way..........'kay?

Making my thoughts public was ill judged, apologies.

Glad to hear his brother is looking like he will pull through. Fingers crossed Lamela can get back into the team sooner rather than later because we have missed his verve in the final third. Dele, Eriksen (bar the odd game) and Son have all been severely underwhelming recently.

Feel like he should just spend Christmas with his family and comeback Jan

I certainly wouldn't care aboutfootball if my brother was in that condition

Been there, and I can say you dont care about anything else for a very long time, but I hope our tough guy Erik is stronger than me! And I really really hope that our fans give him time.. Well, so happy he is back!

We're not having any sort of drugs talk. At all. I'll re-open the original thread and merge this one into it when I get back in the office, but right now lurking in a dimly lit supermarket car park dressed as Santa and exposing myself takes priority.

Did you pull?
