The Bris-Syd semi has ended in a tie! Sydney looked to have it sewn up - at one point they were 20+ ahead of where Brisbane were at the same point - but a few dots and outs left them needing 3 off the last ball. They got 2 and now there's a 'super over' - one over each, swing for the fences, see what happens.

Edit:
Sydney got 22. Big score. 2 sixes and a 4 in there. Plus a very silly NB from Brisbane.

Brisbane about to bat. Pfff, started with a very high bouncer over the batsman's head, not given as a NB. Then a double. Then a wide. Then a four. Single. Crowd dies.. 15 from 2 balls. Not happening.

I'm not sure what the point is of having Root in the T20 format.

A wonderful batsman in other forms but his inability to hit boundaries (especially on a slow/low pitch like today) built pressure on his partners and eventually himself, all he could try to hit 4's was manufacture nurdles and reverse sweeps for 4 behind the wicket but they were not coming off. Not a reflection on him as he is England's No.1 in other forms but this format may be beyond him IMO.

That's disgusting.

"We won't dwell too much but we are disappointed.”

You fucking well should dwell on it Eoin.

In all seriousness - that is the mother of all collapses (esp if you include the 2 wickets in the over prior as well), which is a shame as i felt we have been competitive all series without being able to close games out. This will leave a bad taste, but we had our moments and there were positives to take from all 3 formats of the game

I really thought he'd walk after the Ashes, so this surprises me........i've never been the greatest fan of his captaincy but he's a fantastic player and hopefully he'll carry on scoring runs at an even better rate now the burden has been lifted.

I just hope that if it is Root it's not going to be to the detriment of his game...
It's almost certainly going to be Root. Its probably the biggest unkept secret in cricket since Atherton got the job :D

I'll be astonished if they don't give it to him. Wether he's ready or not, I have no idea, but who else is there?

It seems to me that the focus on being a tactical genius is a bit misleading. It doesn't matter if you have the best ideas or sharpest mind, if your bowlers aren't hitting the right areas to execute the plan or the batsman aren't scoring enough runs then there isn't much the captain can do,

True up to a point, but in which case there's never been a bad captain of a cricket team :D

It's more than that though, I thought the selection was often flawed and reactive. Not entirely his fault but I never was really convinced by him. Then again, I wasn't exactly jumping for joy when Strauss got the job and that never turned out too badly :D

Aussies turn in India.
Dust bowl rubbish flat track crap pitches with spinners opening.
That's just not test cricket!

Gave an agree but it's not much different in other countries.
Those with a good seam attack tend towards wickets that help their bowlers.
I'm sure we always did with Trueman and Statham to name just one pairing.

why not?
Who says test cricket should only be played one way?

that said, Aussies doing extremely well with their Spin dept - looks like all the coaching Monty did has worked out well for the aussies. If only England would make use of resources like Monty, Swann, Tuffers etc to prepare our spinners better.
