not going to happen, he's getting the game time at Madrid and is producing, let's move on so the hope don't get to us.

Dier's been poor, but he still young and needs to learn about himself, refocus on playing the football he can play instead of playing the football he thinks he can. He's still a good footballer he just needs to readjust mentally.

Didnt mean he wasnt a good player, just meant he is more suited to the midfield. Probably should have been clearer. My bad☺️

If we do make champions league next season, Alli, one of our only game-changers, will now be missing for half the group fixtures.

Just another reason we need to bring in quality reinforcements.
Does he miss three games? I iknow they do in domestic football but I wasn't sure that was the case in European competition.

I don't think he's more suited to midfield, as he's not as all action as wanyama, think he really just needs to refocus on being a proper defender once again. I don't think there's a player out there with Dier's potential that we can afford to waste time and resources when/if we are chasing the type of big young attackers we have been linked as of late.

Dier has it in him, just needs to find the mental fortitude of last year. From the start of this season it seems as if his leadership abilities have taken a nose dive. Remember this is the kid many on here were talking about future team captain, including myself. Haven't seen half of that outward fire as we did last year.

What positions do you think?

Personally, I think a 1st choice CB, Back up LWB, a Quick dribbling, intelligent, creative AM/winger and possibly a back up striker.
CB, LWB, CM, AM, LW, ST imo. It seems radical but it's probably what is needed.

Isco and Lacazette in, Eriksen,Sissoko, and Vinny out. And before all the financial advisers in here jump on my back, yes we could afford it. We already have a good team, and theres no need to rock the boat too much. But were lacking in game changers/winners. Maybe a bit harsh on Eriksen some will feel, but at the end of the day, We need more creativity in midfield and as we will have to sell someone to accomadate Isco, then sorry lads, but it has to be eriksen,
When you look at the players in the other teams around us, and the fact that they ARE going to go out, and add the likes of your griezzmans and all the rest of the worlds other availiable best players to their squads. This really needs to be the absolute minimum of ambition showed by us,
I know its never gonna happen, but that's my two bobs worth

Have to disagree on the Eriksen bit as for me he has been the difference in our side this season. He has to be up there for player of the year because he just makes everyone around him better. @Bus-Conductor and others have mentioned earlier that when he was dropping deeper to get involved the team started to play better and then we switched formations and he has only improved from there. So basically why swap our one creative midfielder, outside winks IMO, for another one? Why can't we have more creatives in the AM positions?

To me the idea of shipping our leading creator just says "lets stay where we are". And to think Isco will just come in and replace Eriksen is also a dangerous way to think. Who knows how he would adjust to the league. I do believe in him, but at the same time we have seen plenty of players come into the PL and struggle. Eriksen is proven.

Now Sissoko and Vinny are as good as gone in my book. Sissoko was just maddening and Vinny has looked anything but average. Vinny could make it at a Watford IMO, but right now we do need a Lacazette to add to our forward line.

We need more creativity so your answer is to sell Eriksen.

Wow.

We need more creativity so you sell our (and one of this league's) most creative player ?

There's a fella auditioning for Spurs TV in another thread, I'd get over there sharpish, you're a shoe in for the post match defeat games.

If we keep the 3-4-3 formation, which CM and AM/LW would you get rid of, as we would have too many IMO or do you think we would stick with 4-2-3-1?

Which of our current 1st choice CBs would you be looking to elbow?
I wouldn't get rid of any, but it would be Dier whose place in the 1st 11 would be under threat. The way I see it, it would be Toby, Verts, new CB for 1st 11, Wimmer & CCV for CB back up and Dier would be fighting it out for both RCB and CM. This is assuming we keep 3-4-3 most of the time. In 4-2-3-1, he would be fighting Wanyama for the more defensive CM spot.

He doesn't exactly look crocked to me, so it feels like letting him go was a costly mistake for us too... how we could have done with a free scoring striker.

It seems we found something in his medical that could cause issues in the future. Just because he hasn't become crocked in 6 months doesn't mean we made a mistake imo.

13 in 23 in the Scottish league is hardly free scoring. Just to compare, Scott Sinclair has 14 in 22 in that league from the wing.

Dier's having a bad time of it at the moment but I expect him to get through it at his age and with his ability. 3 at the back seems to work well for us and keeps Dier in the frame. I don't see him getting past Wanyama but, on form, he's a great rotation option. I don't think he'd be happy on the bench for long though. I'm sure he has a lot of non-footballing qualities that Poch really likes (same as Janssen) and I think he'll be given plenty of time to recapture his form. In short, I don't see us going for another CB unless we get an offer we can't refuse.
