Correct although I don't think there are many suggesting that this should be done because he needs the money. It's just nice for a player and his family to have a day out to respect the service he gave the club.

One of favourite yet frustrating players ever. He seemed so supremely talented - his delivery was incredible. Such a shame is injury record meant he could never show his true potential.
Like Ledley, I suspect had he not had such troubles, he may have been bought from us much earlier on. Whatever the reasons, he played for the club for 12 years and deserves a massive and hearty thanks.

No you wouldn't. Their managers are under massive pressure to get to their sales targets and mostly work on their own. Maybe back in their 90s heyday though.

Personally I'd like to see only one testimonial later this year though. It should be for WHL though.
A legends game with all the recent greats/crowd favourites. King, Ginola, Sheringham, Modric, Robinson, Berbatov, VDV, Bale, Crouch, Anderton, Lineker..... Freund, maybe Gazza?? etc etc . Then all the elder greats (unable/unwilling to play) of the club can be paraded around the ground at half time.

How good was he? I just remember him in the late 90s as a half decent player nothing more.
Played better for England than he did for the most part for Tottenham
