I just don't get the logic in this. Who does he think he is, Barcelona????? Palace are not guaranteed to beat Burnley so why throw away a good chance against Spurs at home ? Obviously i'm happy if he drops key players but i just don't see the logic.
I'm not saying I agree but he has done it before. Tired legs do make a big difference at this time of a season, and if you meet a direct rival much fresher you have a real advantage.

Sam has a track record of doing this at the end of seasons though. Basically giving up a game to a side near the top of the table, cos he thinks he can rest players and turn over Burnley a few days after.

Maybe he will, but I'm not banking on it.

Don't complain, if it means giving us a chance to win the title then I'm all for it.

Burnley is a 6 pointer as they say so that game is far more important to them.

Interesting that so many fans have written us off finishing 1st yet are worried about those behind us.

Last time I looked at the table we were closer to the top than the team in 3rd is to us, and they have played 2 more games that we have.

It's hard to see Southampton getting anything tomorrow night but Everton have won 8 in a row at home so I expect them to get something next Sunday.

We just need to beat Palace on Wednesday and if Everton do take points off Chelsea then WHL will be bouncing for the NLD.

It has changed though. All the doubt and vulnerability in the Chelsea camp will be gone. They'll feel 10 feet tall at the moment, and I expect them to steamroller Southampton on Tuesday.

True, But that can lead to over-confidence. History is filled with stories of the unseemly demise of the overly confident. They looked like they felt pretty much the same when they celebrated beating Stoke like they had won the league. They promptly lost at home to Palace. On Saturday they celebrated beating us, because it was us, like they had won the double...

Southampton however, as @bubble07 says, are in really good away form. They have had a long rest, And they have players returning - if anything like the Saints who played in the CC final turns up they could just catch the Chavs cold having had only three days rest after an intense game on the Wembley turf. It is also a case that sometimes after the Lord Mayor's show. In other words, facing a Saints team most folk are expecting them to beat comfortably might just be a bit more uphill than they are expecting.

I'm not making arguments to say we should believe Southampton will get a result. Chelsea are obviously going to be favourites for the game. But I am making arguments to suggest we can hope that Southampton get a result (y)

SP I love your optimism but you are clutching at straws because 3 more wins and it's pretty much theirs, we will drop point's this week I would expect.
Real pity that huge run of draws from October to November have left us just that little bit too much to do otherwise it could be oh so different.

I fully expect them to win and most probably comfortably. However there are a couple of minor things to hang onto, Costa isn't in form and if they don't make big mistakes they could deal with him. Romeu is fit and is perfect type to do everything he can to try and at least limit Hazard damage.
Biggest thing though is if we have any hope of any team doing damage to Chelsea then they have to take what limited chances they have. To do that you need a clinical striker and Southampton do have that.

Whatever the outcome we have to stay positive, Everton at home is probably their toughest game but we can only do what we do. Win games. Draw or lose our next couple of games and what chelsea do is irrelevant.....

I just want us to beat Arse and West Ham. Especially West Ham.

Looking at their next 2 games and ours... I.am not optimistic. Southampton may have had more rest and a good recent away record, and Everton may have a great recent home record, but neither really have anything to play for. I fear they will play too 'expansively' and Chelsea will contain them then smash them on the break - which is what they do best.

As for our next 2, Palace beating Pool is great. Hope to fuck Arse drop points against Leicester, otherwise they will have momentum and real hope of top 4.

But fuck it. One game at a time etc.. Fabulous to be where we are at this stage of the season. And confident we won't crumble pathetically like we did last season.

I think we'll finish 3rd, man.city 2nd. They have very winnable final games and we do not. We need to get 3-4 wins to get 2nd never mind Keep the pressure up on Chelsea.

So funny how the attitude of fans change week by week game by game. Ott, no middle ground.

We'll surely that's because each result really does influence how things are likely to play out. That fa cup semi was HUGE for so may reasons. We can 100% absolutely forget the league now, chelseas confidence will be sky high, they'll steam roller southampton and the pressure will really be on us away to the most in form team in the league, I hope we win but I can see our boys being effected by the fa cup loss and possibly drawing or losing. Arsenal then off the back of their win in the fa cup beat Leicester and then are also now sky high coming into the NLD.

If we'd beaten Chelsea their blip would've been turning into a rut/crisis and they may have then slipped up vs Southampton, we'd be bulletproof vs palace and its game on.

Football is as much a mental and momentum game as it is physical and tactical. That being said you just never know what will happen but I for one am now a little worried we may well end up 3/4th. And looking at man.citys run in its easily possible for them to overtake us.

Every game now is huge but Wednesday especially, we really need to bounce back with a win, HUGE TEST OF OUR TEAMS CHARACTER NOW, Have they learnt from last season or not.

COYS.

Well I am still dreaming we can do it, that is what makes being a Spurs fan at the moment so great. End of April and we can still win the league.

Chelsea on Saturday showed, in my opinion, why they are big favourites for the title ( they won with out playing particularly well) but also why there is a decent chance they will slip up. They have not been impressive recently. They have lost to Palace and United. They drew away at Burnley and scraped wins without playing particularly well at Stoke, West Ham. They are not invincible. They have a misfiring striker in Costa. Yes they have goals from others e.g. Willian and Hazard but Costa is their main source of goals and they have dried up for him. They are now starting to have some injuries and whilst they have a big squad it is not easy for those coming in e.g. the guy up front on saturday whose name I can't spell did not do much. Defensively now they are quite poor, when was their last clean sheet?

Whilst they are still deservedly favourites I actually do fancy our chances.

I would Kevin Keegan love it if we pip them for the title then the scum beat them in the cup final. The Conte love in would stop then. They would be the biggest chockers ever. Come on, we can dream surely!

You only need to look at Liverpool (3-0 up) at palace a few years ago to see that teams going for the title and in good form can lose focus.
