I've noticed with Poch that when he has positive news he will generally respond to speculation. In November, the media asked him if Lloris and Kane were happy at spurs despite the drawn out contract talks and he insisted that they were happy.

The fact he is refusing to talk on the Walker and Toby rumours speaks volumes.

We weren't challenging for the title back then. He is clearly just trying to deflect all distractions now so the team doesn't lose focus

The thing is the system and style we play the full backs are absolutely critical. I'd say more so than any other position on the pitch. If they're not quick they can't push up as much without risking getting caught. We've been ok with Davies but I think its fair to say he doesn't scare the shit out of defenders like Rose. Same with Trippier. He's arguably better at crossing the ball but he cant get back like Walker can and he doesn't worry defences like Walker so the opp full backs can push up more.
With the wrong full backs this system turns into AVB shite. Its why Poch struggled at the start imo until he got it right.
Kwp should go on loan next season imo not suddenly stepping into Walkers boots.
Finally, its probably bollox anyway :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

What worries me slightly is if there is nothing in it, it would've been pretty simple to quash by now...the timing is really shit.
And if there's any truth in the twitter stuff then I hope Kyle likes noodles.

It doesn't. Have you watched the press conference yet? He doesn't answer because he doesn't like the journalist asking the question again (12 minutes ish onwards)

Completely different time. It was very well known that the early years of Levy's reign were filled with mistakes. He learnt from those mistakes and he wont be making them again. None of our top players will be sold to our competitors in the PL.

Its no surprise Jose and Pep have said that they cant deal with us as we've grown as a club. There was a very real valid point in those statements and it may even be the reason why the rumours are that Walker may have been tapped up, however, any advances to him by any of the top clubs beit informal or unofficial will be totally futile I believe and Levy wont be having none of it. The only way any deal could ever happen I would assume is, if we are getting something very good in return...And that's not necessarily money. More than likely a player we are ourselves desperately after.

That being said, the risk of getting a player you want at the expense of strengthen our opponent is something I don't think the club would be willing to sacrifice if you ask me. Only need to look at Modric and Bale over the last few years to know Levy's learnt and will sell abroad than sell a top player to a domestic club.

Firstly I agree that Levy made a bagful of mistakes, and yes I believe he has learnt from them.

I'm not going to go into it on here but perhaps just perhaps this isn't as straight forward as 'Walker wants out so we are forced to sell to one of our rivals'.

Do you think it's more likely he'd be sold abroad? I fully acknowledge that you may not answer, but I thought I'd ask in case :)

I see you solicited to usual weak rationalisations in response to this, but I believe you are on to something here.

If Walker is sold we need to buy a quality replacement... Trippier is decent but he is not a in Walker's class when they are both in top form.

Probably alone in thinking this, but given a proper run of games, I think that Trippier is more than capable of becoming better than Walker.

He is definitely in the same class. They each have different strengths and weakness, which makes comparisons difficult, but we could win a title with Trippier playing Wing Back.

The bigger concern is who backs up Trippier - is KWP ready for that challenge? Nobody has that answer. But Trix has suggested - IF Walker is sold, a replacement is not a priority. And it would make very little sense to sell Walker, only to use the money to buy a lesser version of Walker. If we sell Walker, I think we will look to strengthen a different position - thus making the team, as a whole, stronger than it is today. If we don't think we can improve the squad, I think we will hold onto Walker.

That was just opinion on my part, although that is based on how highly I hear KWP is rated.

@Trix won't be answering, hopefully because he remembers the times when asking ITK's questions resulted in mayhem across the board, but also because he's been asked not to. So our policy is, no asking questions.

noticed this morning on twitter (being reported as a recent thing but apparently he did it back in Mid-March) that Walker changed his profile pic and banner pic on his profile from him in Spurs kit to him in his England kit.

Might be nothing of course, but does seem a bit odd considering it's not as if he'll be playing for England this summer.

Changed his profile picture again, now sporting a Man City mankini

Understood, didn't realise that wasn't allowed.

For me, at the heart of this thread is if we do sell walker, we will look like we can't hold onto our main players and we will be fulfilling the pundits soundbites. And opposing fans will certainly be saying who's next.

But I feel we have the best coach in the league, as it stands, so my point being that if walker is sold and I for one would be disappointed, I believe it will be for what's best for the team and I trust poch in everything he is doing.

Just to put my conspiracy hat on for a minute. I wonder if the whole Walker potential transfer to City might have been engineered by persons at the club in order to bring funds in to bolster transfer kitty. In the process appearing to be the victim of another club tapping up one of our players, whilst we profit significantly from the whole saga...just joking really...our club would never do something so Machiavellian:unsure:.

Are we in such a desperate situation with KW?

What are his options if we tell him he has to stay put?

Presumably he'll want to play for England in a World Cup year.

So with 4 years on his contract, he'll either have to knuckle down, or accept it's abroad or nothing.

Let City fret over their own problems and homegrown quota.

I hear Kyle Naughton is available at a good price?

Replaceable, with who?!

You're fooling yourselves saying he's replaceable. He's the best right back in the Prem, look how many right backs Arsenal, City and United etc have brought in since we've had Walker and none of them are as good.

We shouldn't be strengthening our Prem rivals, end of story. If he's goes Madrid or Barcelona fair enough but no-one in our current XI should be sold to anyone in England.

Absolutely this.

People can spin this whatever way they like but selling any of our first team players to a direct rival is setting a very dangerous precedent in terms of the other players. Could we use the money to reinvest? Of course but it's not as simple as that.

You consider the precarious contract situation with Alderweireld and all of a sudden selling Walker could be a horrendous catalyst for other first team players demanding moves.

It's the instability and uncertainty that could spread, the media lapping it up and constantly fueling the flames.

For me I wouldn't sell a single first team player this summer. We're the envy of the league and so close to the new stadium.

This is more than just individual players, it's about preserving what we've built.

Pochettino is a stunning coach, but if we were to lose half our defensive line this summer we'd undoubtedly weaken ourselves for next season. This team has grown under Pochettino, and grown together.

Selling to a domestic rival, given what we've achieved under Pochettino, is just mind blowing to me.

It's like ringing the dinner bell, lads it's Tottenham and they're open for business again.

Sorry, but fuck that.

It's quite simple. We're going to sell Kyle Walker-Peters to Man City for £35m and just get him to cross out the second bit of his surname.
