I've been saying all season that a top 4 finish two seasons in a row would be a massive achievement for the club considering the resources being spent around us, so to achieve minimum top 3 with games left to go is fantastic.

All I want now is to ideally avoid defeat for the rest of the season, and obviously it'd be a dream to beat United in the final game at WHL. To go an entire league season unbeaten at home would be completely astonishing in this day and age and would be the best possible send-off for the stadium I could think of.

Despite the disappointment of Friday, this season should go down as a hugely successful one for Spurs, where the team and club progressed again. Any moronic idiot who is stupid enough to talk about bottling anything deserves to be bottled themselves.

Whilst I agree with the basic sentiment that you express, and I agree what we have achieved this year, given our overall spend in the last 5 years, is remarkable, the bit in bold leaves me thinking .... was that really necessary? I'm sure you don't mean it and it does devalue the strength of your argument.

You need a better imagination..... having the title presented to us after beating Utd and going the whole season unbeaten would have been the best possible send off

But I know what you mean, and with what's left to play for that is the only thing that matters now. Beat Utd and send the great stadium off in style

So, here we are, starting to get worried about 2nd spot...and then I look at Portsmouth, 10 points behind with 4 games left!

Miracles sometimes happen.

I really hope the lads can pull the stops out and win their last three games...just in case...

Come on Mother Hubbard could you be taking it a bit too seriously by any chance? "De-valuing the strength of the argument"? This is a football forum, not Question Time

Surely you'd have to get one of those beastly builder types to do that though? :p

a 15 goal turnaround if we only got 1 more point would take some doing considering the matches we both have left to play, especially as we have only conceded more than 2 goals once in the league 2 seasons.

just like all we needed to do was beat newcastle at home who were already relegated last season! or needing chelsea not to win the cl when we finished 4th!

2 points to make it safe!!

Got to win next week for WHL sake and give it a fitting send off and sign off a brilliant home campaign and seal the 2nd.

We haven't finish second since the 60s so it's been a bloody good season whichever way we paint it if we nail down second place. Disappointing to not win the league though obviously.

Following if happens will be brilliant IMO...

a) Spurs to seal the 2nd spot at WHL next week beating United
b) Arsenal to finish 6th and kick off the season playing EL end of July.
c) United to lose the EL final to Ajax and finish 5th to enter EL
d) Liverpool to finish 4th and lose the CL qualifiers and go down to EL

That's true runner up is not to be sniffed at but my main reason for feeling pissed off on Friday was that with playing at Wembley, I can't see when we are likely to get that close again.
This year and last is the closest we have come in recent memories for most of us and yet the foreseeable future could mean us not getting amongst it for quite a while.

City are smashing teams and will win all 3. So if we lose a few say -2/3 and they win 4-0,4-0and 2-0 then they come
Above us.

It's not over until it's over, a season is 38 games not 35. That all having said I really think we will win at least one more game or worst case 2 draws. If we didn't that genuinely would be bottling 2nd if not. Win 9 in a row then lose 3 or 4/4, which is the same amount as we've lost all season... can't see it myself.

A win against man.u to guarantee 2nd and sign off final game at the lane will be ideal.

Realistically in 3 seasons time. Next year
Is a no with Wembley, year after is 1st season in new ground but season after that could be the one. I'm hoping we cling on to top4 the next 2 seasons and win some fucking cups!!
