I think the bottom line is we will not be able to compete with the the big clubs on wages. I think we will try to hold on to our best players ( like we did with Bale) but if silly bids come in like 100m for Alli, Kane or Erikson, I would expect levy to be looking at the coffers. But think the bigger risk is the silly wages that will be offerd. All the players agents will be telling them this is a once in a lifetime chance , remember you could have a injury next year and your career could be over and you have to get money in the bank while you can. Plus they will be telling Kane he can be the next Becks or Rooney and when he retires have a clothing and advertising empire with the the right moves to the right clubs and PR etc.
One club men don't exist anymore it is a tough business game. Luckily our star players are stil very young and I would hope even with silly deals and wages we can hold them for another year. Keeping them longer than that while we need money to pay for the new stadium and can't match wages will be very tough.

I would expect at least to loose one or two. I would say Erikson, Walker, verts, Toby, Dier and Loris are the biggest risks along with poch of course. But really I could see any of them going for the right deal. What I don't expect is us not to loose anyone. And of course there will be no big money for replacements. But then again we never spent big money on Alli Kane or Erikson so who know who we will get. For me Poch is the most vital to keep along with Kane next is, the goalkeeper and the two CB's.

I can't see a situation where Kane would be sold unless he wanted out of the club and currently it's not going to happen.
Being a local lad and a fan he is kind of the talisman and as such the team is built around him to a degree.

If we keep up as we are Kane will not go.

Same with Winks and if he managers to fulfil his potential, Walker-Peters.

And once we are in the new stadium I don't see why we won't be able to compete wages-wise looking at our waiting lists?

trippier matched walker's assist total for the season today, he only started six games.

Tripps against the Hulls and Watford of this world are fine but against the Manures and Man city's? Nah not having that.

just think the bigger teams would target him with their pacy wingers

Right backs have to do more than put crosses in, tbf.

I don't think we're "doomed" but it's a big loss either way, however it's coated.
I'm not at all worried tbh, Trippier may well cost us a few defensively but he offers more going forward, and that's if we don't bring another right back in...which I think we probably will.

I don't think Trippier is as slow as he sometimes seems, granted he doesn't have the pace of Walker or even Rose, but then not many do.

Walker tends to wear his clown shoes for the bigger games anyway so your argument is invalid. And against the Hulls and Leicesters what does Walker do that means anything from an attacking point of view? I mean really meaningful?

I'd like Walker to stay, but ultimately, if the money is right, I don't think he's irreplaceable; he's certainly nowhere near one of our most important players.

You can't say that about walker, he has definitely improved his defending and yes he makes one or two mistakes but overall his brain farts have been increasingly eliminated from his game.

I agree Trippier is better at his crossing.

I don't think walker is irreplaceable but I do think if he goes then we do need to replace him.

It's not just that he's not as fast as Walker, it's that he's not very good at defending in one-on-one situation against tricky players around the box. He gets his body too square on, and is fairly easy to go past.

Its been said - but Trippier is better as a wingback, Walker is better as a fullback. Some of Trippier's defensive deficiencies are masked when we play a 3-man back line, with help from the RCB.

It almost does not matter, because if Walker leaves, ITK report that we are likely to bring someone in to compete with Trippier.

If Danny Simpson and Victor Moses can win the league as RB's in consecutive years I have zero concerns about Trippier.

Defence is the relatively easier part of the game, and I'm sure that Poch and his staff can improve this aspect of his game.

I think Trippier needs to get in the gym a bit more, I think Walker's strength as well at his athleticism helps him a lot defensively.
