My happiest Sissoko moment when I thought he had signed for Everton. That was a good time to be alive.

The amount of abuse and negs I got for saying he was a waste of money & GKN was another N'Jie :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I think Sissoko will have to go down as our worst ever signing...
We have had some bad ones over the years but for the money & what he offered us most definitely the worst in my life time.

Worse than Gilberto, Rasiak, Atouba, Rocha, Postiga, Andy Booth? Also Soldado based upon expectation was the biggest disappointment so has to be uo there

Like I said based on how much we spent on him then definitely the worst signing we have ever made.
Did anyone expect anything from any of those players with the exception of Soldado and Postiga? Where as the majority of people knew Sissoko would be a flop if they watched any football other than the European championship. He was shit for Newcastle and they couldn't believe anyone would pay as much as we did for the useless tosser.

Personally I still think there is a player there if he plays through the middle. It was this that caused us problems in that infamous game last season. But on the whole we've not played him in that way this season. Why as a wide player/winger? It's not his fault - it's the scouts/buyers/whoever. I still suspect that there was a strange deal that has gone down there somewhere.

I don't think sissoko is as bad as a lot on here are making out, he is just one of those players who needs to be playing week in week out. Playing the odd game or sub appearance here and there has destroyed his confidence and he is not good enough to play week in week out for us

I would argue that only Rasiak, Booth and Postiga were categorically worse signings than Sissoko - and at least Postiga we later swapped for Pedro Mendes who was quite good. The others were poor but had their moments and were signed for very little money so it didn't really matter.

It's not just that he was poor. It's not just that he was expensive. It's that we knew he'd be poor and expensive. You can forgive a signing like Soldado because he'd proven himself over a long period of time in Spain and it was a surprise that he did as badly as he did. But Sissoko? It was obvious that that was going to be a bad signing, regardless of all the "if he's good enough for Poch then he's good enough for me" crap that people came out with. Every Newcastle fan I know texted me on the day of the transfer to laugh and I had nothing to say back.

I still stand by that somebody should lose their job over this signing. Not Poch or Levy, but surely someone in the scouting team had given a recommendation or failed to point out to Poch that his performances at the Euros and on the final day of the season against us were not at all representative of his career.

Guarantee this guy will come off the bench and score against us to knock us out of Europe while playing for Marseille or someone in a couple of years time.

We have had some bad ones over the years but for the money & what he offered us most definitely the worst in my life time.

As much as £30m seems a ridiculous figure for him, making him our record signing etc - we still have to look at things relatively.

If considering him the worst signing in terms of a waste of money, there are a couple of others that come to mind:

Back in 2000, Rebrov cost £11m*, our turnover** at the time was £48m so he cost 22% of our turnover - we also let his contract expire so got nothing for him in the end.

Back in 2008, Bentley cost £15m*, our turnover** at the time was £114m so he cost 13% of our turnover - again his contract expired so got no money back.

If Sissoko cost £30m*, our turnover** last year was £209m so he cost 14% of our turnover, slightly more than Bentley - but there is still a good chance that we can recoup a significant amount of the transfer fee.

* Obviously, the cost doesn't take into account wages which over the period of a contract can exceed the transfer fee.
** It would also be good to look at cost versus operating profit too.

I didn't add Soldado in to the comparison, as there was a lot of different information on how much he actually cost, and how much we got back for him.

There is no way in fucking hell we have signed a paper stating that we owe 30M no matter what. It is im-poss-ible that Levy would have done that. I refuse to believe it.

Regardless. Sissoko has been the worst signing of all times. I'd rather have David Bentley back from retirement.

L'Equipe recently reported that Marseille were in for him and willing to pay up to £22m (with Levy holding out for £26m), so I would imagine that his representatives were denying that report specifically.

"Some paper" claimed that his first choice if he were to move away from spurs, was to another english club. He'd consider offers from abroad

He's better than Rasiak.... I have never seen someone look less like a footballer in all my life than Rasiak.
