I really don't think he did. Unless you're counting Holland internationals
I think by last season, he means 2015-16. As in when we signed Janssen it wasn't disastrous, and many of us thought he was every bit as good as Batshuayi. The narrative that we fucked about and 'ended up with Janssen' is at best contrived, at worst bullshit.

Not counting pre-season Janssen scored 6 for us last season in all competitions. And also provided 4 assists.
Michy scored 9 goals last season not counting pre-season and PL 2. And assisted 3.

So really, it's not like there's a big gap between the two based just off of stats. Internationals are not counted in here

The difference is huge because Bats played fewer games and minutes

*Buys 100 tee shirts and has "I banged on about Jansen in the ITK thread and now I get my info from Newsnow" printed on them.

You
Sometimes it is difficult like Batshit... we dick around with transfer amount and get brush aside by Chelsea for wage. We end up with Jansen...
You
Janssen scored more than bats last year. Just sayin.

If no-one comes in and only fazio, njie and nkoudu leave i'd be happy.

He didn't

Michy scored 9 goals in all competitions, Janssen 6 (internationals not included). And the difference in goals per minute ratio is huge

Taking the piss.

The tee shirts are one size fits all, i'll do the do when I get a minute. Thank you for participating up to now, all good things come to an end.

Listen, Signor Pochettino has loads of strengths, he grew immensely over the last 12 months, and we all agree he deserves support.

That doesn't mean that we must be blind.

Under Pochettino, the club has signed a few really good players, some quite acceptable players, and plenty of unacceptable signings. We must be allowed to say that this is a definite area of great possible improvements.

Now, some posters may state that every club makes wrong signings. But Pochettino himself has stated that we must be smarter than other clubs at transfers. So whatever errors other clubs make, they are not an excuse for us to not talk about the improvement potential in transfer dealings.

This is the 4th(!) summer TW during Pochettino's reign. It's time to get transfer savvy. And it's ok to say that, without being ousted as unsupportive.

The point being made, is: that is an endless conversation!

He will never improve to the point where all signings are perfect - as we have seen from the greatest managers ever in the game. There will always be players who fail to adapt to a strategy, dont get on with team-mates, just lose the confidence which propelled them to where they are... So, in short, it is impossible to get the right player every time.

Perfectly agree with that, you are correct. But I'm asking for improvement. I'm not asking for perfection. An unobtainable utopia is not an excuse or a valid reason for not wanting improvement or not allowing for improvement to be talked about.

Don't forget, we sign players thru a committee which imo a big hurdle if they don't consist with similar ambition individuals.

Have to agree with this. No manager signs great players all the time no matter how experienced. Arsenal, Chelski and even Man Utd under Fergie all signed a fair few donkeys that never made the cut. They get overlooked because of the great signings that keep them in the top 4. Poch is still learning and given time he will only get better. We finally have somebody who appears to be what we need to really start challenging so have faith that the good signings he makes will overshadow the useless players that worm their way into the squad.

I will say though that when Fergie signed Graham Poll it was a move of pure genius and handed him the title on a few occasions by getting final whistle extensions till they scored, soft penalties in their favor and no penalties conceded for anything less than a Cantona style kung-fu kick.

When you are likely to be spending tens of millions on one player a committe to agree the purchase/or not is always going to happen. Look at the problems Conte is having at Chelsea. You can't be risking that sort of money just on the whim of a manager who may not be there tomorrow.

It's not like they all sit round a table and if one of them vetoes the move we forget it. The comittee from my understanding is more about getting a few different perspectives so Levy and MP can make a more informed decision. Players will be shortlisted and then discussed for positives and negatives. Nothing more to it than that.

Im bored, no football, no real signings on the horizon to get wet about.
June is shit when there is no decent football on.

Sod that, that was last season. No decent Spurs podcasts so far over the summer.
You've GOT to be kidding me. There isn't one poster who.....

A: Gives a fuck
and
B: Thinks this isn't wildly off topic

I've flicked bogies that have more common sense.
