i think the posh walker riff has been greatly exaggerated… to me it’s simple.. with the stadium build , levy has informed posh he has a top 4 team and will not be funding any new arrivals unless its from sales.. it’s been the policy for years now.. poch then does the numbers and finds a player he can less afford to lose and his value to other teams = walker.

The riff is an easy out = poch/levy don’t look like they’re selling a perfectly good thing that took us to 3rd and 2nd.. walker goes to earn double his money to a team thats also in top 4 and have money to win the whole thing.

come on - posh only realise walker can’t play 2 games at the end of the season when he is fitter than he’s been in years and doing it for 2 years now.

have we not realise now that a big sale doesn't amount to squad being better. we suck at buy big and we lose continuity.. Spurs will spend the walker money but that is all they will do.. again 00 NET SPEND AND ALL WILL THINK THAT THERE IS INVESTMENT IN THE TEAM..

NO.. there is investment in the company.. not the squad... they've been giving us stadium updates all summer like its signings
Any minor positive thoughts you'd like to share?

The pereira thread is a good place to see the current opinion on his Itk status

He's a pub DJ I think, get the impression he likes to think he's ITK cos he has a lot of Spurs fans following him on twitter.
No idea if he actually is.

Don't care about net spends, the only thing that matters is improving the team. If selling Walker does that then great. However we need to up our game when it comes to incomings. We can't be wasting money on dross like Sissoko again. Only Wanyama was a success from last summer, we need more than that this summer.

Apparently he's a decent bloke but I really had to stop following him cos his tweets just really annoy me in the way he tweets as if he is ITK but as far as I can tell is not.

The writers at ESPN sums up my feelings about this transfer perfectly:

"Trippier is a downgrade

There's an ongoing effort to rewrite history by some Spurs fans, who've admirably convinced themselves that Trippier finished last season as first choice. Yes, Trippier started the FA Cup semifinal and the emotional matches against Arsenal and Manchester United, but only after Walker's head had been turned.

The former Burnley defender has started 11 league games since he joined Spurs and four of those have been against Watford. He's never been first-choice because he is not as good as Walker. Given Pochettino's talent for coaching players, particularly full-backs, Trippier will probably improve, but the rest of the Premier League was terrified of facing Danny Rose and Walker, and it will not be the same now."

And if Juventus now signs Perreira - what will Poch feel? What will the other players feel? Write it up any way you want, the fact is simple:

Our squad is weakened; Man City´s is strengthened.

I'm overall defo happy with the sale. I think we are are better team with Trippier against the bottom fourteen teams than with Walker as he offers so much more going forward. Your results against the bad teams obviously have much more of an effect on your final league position than those against the top six.

Liverpool would have finished top if only matches against the top six counted this season, but actually only just finished fourth because they were so bad against worse teams.

I actually think having Trippier in the team would result in a higher points total per season than Walker for us, since the majority of teams sit back against us. It's a common held belief that results against the big teams is what wins you the title, but in fact the opposite is true. I think Trippier will be fine against the lesser teams, and it's not as if his relative dificencies against top 6 is like a guaranteed loss, is it?

We got a lot of money but that absolutely has to be invested now, and invested well. No excuses on 'nearly' deals at the end of the window will wash. We're a whisker away from establishing ourselves as a top club now, so selling a key player to a direct rival represents a massive gamble, whichever way you slice it.

As far as Walker is concerned, he's put in some great performances for us over the last few years and the way he's handled his departure should be a lesson to other players, he's handled it perfectly and I wish him all the best (though not his new club).

On right backs, we 100% need a new top right back. It's one of the manager's favourite positions to rotate. Tripper is good and having him in the squad means there'll be less pressure on the new signing to do well, as we'll have a quality player ready to step in if need be.

Just from a pr perspective I'm surprised we've let this go without softening the blow first.

Only club in the league not to make a signing and now we've just sold the best RB in the league to a direct rival.

Thanks, Spurs.

I've never got the impression that Levy is particularly bothered about keeping the fans sweet in that way. He does as Levy does.

"I feel there's a lot more. Tottenham is a great club, it's helped me get to where I am now, especially under the current manager but sometimes your path's not there and you have to move on. What a place to take a different path."
