I'd be happy to cement a top 4 finish. That and personally going all out for at least the league cup. We need to win something or we risk becoming the latest of a long list of sides that get cherry picked by bigger clubs for being the nearly men.

Progression in the CL would be a great marker also to show our players that they are capable of doing great things.

Although like many, I'm concerned about our depth if we were to get a couple of injuries. Especially now at right back.

I think we can win the PL this season if we start strongly. I see Liverpool and Chelsea as our main rivals and they are going to struggle with ECL. A PL win and/or a top 4 finish plus getting out of the group stages will be sensational.

Domestic cups? I am not sure. I think the overhead will be too great as the squad depth is still pretty light.
You are really living in cloud cuckoo land if think that only Liverpool and Chelsea will be our main rivals. As @Good Doctor M says, "there's being hopeful and then there's ignoring reality".

I'll be unhappy if we dont win it this year.Stats wise we've been the best team over the past 2 seasons and i can't see any reason for it to change.I also think that at the tail end of last season we really clicked into gear, and hopefully if we start the way we finished, i can't see many teams living with us, Wembley or not

A league title for me, have been giddy with the thought of it the past couple of seasons!

But realistically top four is easier said than done and is shaping up for one hell of a battle this season.
Hope we give a better account of ourselves in the CL this time around too
A domestic cup would be brilliant and we are more than capable, we are due one!

I'd cash in 4th in the league, knockout round of the CL and an Fa Cup final in a heartbeat.

I feel like 4th is the most important this year as we need CL in the new stadium and I think the players would be happy to give us at least a year in the new place provided we have CL

I think Man U, Man C and Chelsea will compete for the title, and us, Arsenal and Liverpool (and maybe Everton) will compete for 4th.

Probable 6th place finish - lack of serious and timely commitment in the transfer market plus the Wembley factor. Will be a tough painful year.

We've improved massively in taking the points from the games we should be winning. In previous seasons, we've wrestled points from big teams and then thrown them away against minnows. If we can keep that going we have a very good chance of top 4. I can see Utd, City and the Gooners doing much better as well though, so it will be a very tough season and I'd take top 4 now in a heartbeat.

4th place finish
+ 2000 minutes of game time for kids (Onoma, CCV, CWP, Edwards)
+ Knockout rounds of champions league (unless we are in a group of death with two clearly superior sides)

I think people are writing us off too early, there is a reason every other club wants to sign our players, irrespective of signings, I think we will finish in the top 3 again.

However, us winning the league is going to depend on our form at Wembley and our form against the top four away from home imo.

Realistically speaking being the best team over 38 fixtures when playing all those games "away from home" is a tough task. Winning the Champions League means coming at least 2nd in a 6 game mini league( we could be in a"Group of Death") and then win 3 two leg ties and a final against the best teams in Europe(the world). another tough task. Winning the League cup means winning 3 single game rounds, one 2 legged Semi-Final and the Final - a total of 6 games. Winning the FA Cup means winning 6 games and it's possible in all those games we could have "home" advantage. Realistically speaking looking at the numbers it makes sense to target both domestic cup competitions. We can play youth when drawn against lower league teams but if drawn against Premier League teams we should play our strongest line-up.
There is another reason to target them. Winning is a habit and winning trophies can become a habit. Before Ferguson won his first Premier League title with ManU he won the FA Cup followed by the European Cup Winners Cup the next year. The year Wenger won his first title he also won the FA Cup. Before ManCity won the league under Mancini they won the FA Cup the year before. When they won the title under Pellegrini they won the League Cup earlier that year. Before Mourinho won his first PL title with Chelski he won the League Cup. In his second spell at Chelski he won the League Cup the same year he won the PL title - last year in his first season at ManU he won the League Cup and the Europa Cup.
This is where I feel Poch was mistaken in his "project". He did not recognize the importance of winning the "lesser" trophies as a means of instilling a winning mentality in the squad. It's something Mourinho understands and has proven to be successful at. He has a habit of winning something in his first season and League Titles in his second season at clubs!
So realistically speaking given our squad and Wembley I would expect us to be in the mix for the title, not win it but top 4 and target and win one or both domestic cups. Win nothing and we will lose players next summer. Depending on the Group draw get last 16 or quarter final of CL.

Why don't we wait and see champ. They are my onions. The Manc clubs are going to implode.

Without allowing optimism or pessimism to take total control of your senses I would like to ask the following question and will be most interested to see your replies.

Taking into account our previous two seasons, the fact we are having to undergo a transitional year playing at Wembley and current developments in the transfer market regarding both ourselves and our title rivals...what would realistically be considered by yourself as an acceptable outcome for the 2017/18 season with anything above that being a much appreciated bonus ??

For myself I would be quite satisfied to see at least another top four finish, quarter finals of the CPL and for that elusive bit of silverware....an FA Cup win. I feel we are perfectly capable of producing yet another strong challenge for the title but that perhaps Wembley may be a stumbling block to our aspirations. I also think the squad capable of reaching at least the qtr final stages of Europe's top competition and that this may just be our year to lift the FA Cup.....

So what do you think / expect ??

Win the league by 5 points and reach at least the semi finals of the Champions League

Win the league. We have never had a better chance. No building for a bright future, no making good progress, win it now.

This all day long, we have been the best team for the last 2 seasons and are top of a 2 season league table.

No more excuses, we need to deliver to keep this team together, push on and be recognised as a massive club home and abroad.

No chance imo of top 3 with a number of variables at large here I'd say 6th is likely any higher unlikely.
Maybe in a few years with a bit of luck another good run at top four is possible but we are always playing with one arm behind our backs.

Top four despite Wembley.
The makings there of a hoodoo to be overcome.
Good attitude and effort
and integration of some old youngsters
and hopefully some new ones.
If we play well over the season
we will likely win something.

To be honest if Kyle Walker is the only player (apart from the known 'dross') to leave the club this summer then I regard it as a wonderful testament to both the squad and staff for their obvious 100% belief and commitment in what the club is attempting to achieve. It is a rare and extremely uplifting sight to see a group of players forego the temptations of rival clubs and higher salaries to try and achieve the more rewarding personal ideals of adhering to an ethos and watching it come to fruition. A tribute indeed to the manager and the way in which he has built a spirit and camaraderie that is unshakeable even in the face of massive media hype and rumour. Maybe we shall all be amazed as Spurs fans this season if that belief allows them to overcome the Wembley wobbles and once again mount a serious title challenge. The talent is there, the team unity is there and the support is unquestionably there.
Maybe the youth of the players is our key advantage...they have many years to look forward to at the top level and perhaps their dreams and goals have not been clouded by the avarice and mercenary attitudes many adopt as they approach the late summer / autumn of their careers. They play simply because they love the game and Poch allows them to play the game they love....they are allowed to develop naturally but are also guided professionally. I think Walker had it completely wrong when he said about learning more from Pep...it is a statement he will come to regret when he looks back on his days under Mauricio's guidance and realises their true value.
Your views so far have been extremely varied and interesting but one constant remains...we support this club and it's players with a passion that is unwavering and when you mix that with a genuine belief that at long last we have put together a great manager and a brilliant young team...there can only be one ultimate outcome....success ! On that I think we are all agreed....?

Come On You Spurs !
A winners medal for such a great post. Thank you @Krule I really enjoyed that optimism :love:

Don't know where we'll finish in the League. Would love to win it, but I could live with top 4 again, so long as we win a trophy. I was watching the "When Henry met Kane" programme on Sky Sports. Harry saying if we don't win trophies in the next 3 seasons, he'll be "very disappointed" sounds a lot like Spurs fan or not, we've got that sort of length of time to start realising his ambitions or Harry may well look elsewhere for his medals.

It's hard to judge expectations for this season. Undoubtedly I'm worried about performances at Wembley. It is unlikely we will be able to repeat he 17:2:0 results achieved at the Lane.

Not making any transfers while all around are spunking £200m on 3-4 players on the face of it should worry us, however the flip side is we have an established integrated team.

Its easy to forget that the majority of the team are young and will hopefully improve further or reaching peak age such as those in defence.

Given they were the best in the league it's reassuring.

1. Man City will have to integrate a new back 5
2. Chelsea and Liverpool will have more than 1 game a week to contend with
3. Arsenal will hopefully be without Sanchez and have an 11 points deficit to try and close
4. Man Utd have question marks whether they have actually improved on their first XI from last season.

That's said the winners of the league for the last 2 years have been unexpected. So I'd hope for a title challenge and hopefully a bit of silverware. I will happily accept top 4 but I could live with top 6 given the Wembley factor.

Hard to call, I think we'll have a slow start like last season because of injuries and Wembley but I think by November we'll start to fire providing we have a healthy squad. Reckon we could get top four and if we win a trophy that would be great.
