I think people are just annoyed that this is a problem of our making. It's not bad luck, just bad management. We have to go away to Newcastle and take on Chelsea without a right wing-back if reports are to be believed. And even if Trippier is fit in time, we were lucky. This sort of situation shouldn't happen; not when you get a record fee for a right-back. Every season we always look at the start of the season and wonder if we'd started better, maybe we'd have finished higher in the league. And normally it's because our team isn't properly in place in August. We're risking the same again.

I want to add that overall I'm very happy with the management of the club (we're punching under Levy) but this is a repeat issue that doesn't get corrected, and I feel it costs us at the end of every season. How much money do we save from holding off on transfers? Are we net ahead even with the dodgy August results? I don't know but it's infuriating anyway.

so it's bad management to sell a player that didn't want to be here, and if we had bought another earlier what happens if they got injured too?

you can only have a squad of 25 players, only 18 can play on a match day, to keep the team as happy as Poch does he has to rotate within reason, but we can only buy players that fit our wage structure.

there are no guarantees that a player ain't going to get injured, you just have to hope to get lucky

Dier. Toby. Jan. Ben

Winks/Vic. Dembele

Sissoko. Alli. Eriksen

Kane

Wimmer, KWP, Jannsen, plus...

You don't spend millions to replace injured players. We obviously need players but the team above is good enough even if Vic does not make the first game.

Maybe the Trippier injury will persuade Levy to pay Perriera's buy out clause. I doubt it, but maybe.

Wanyama and Son both appear in the most recent instagram videos with the caption 'Preparations for Newcastle'.

Bench againt Juve was very very thin.

I'd just go 3-4-3 with Sissoko as RWB. We'd still have our strongest 10 out there and he should have more than enough to perform that role against his old side.

Should have had Walker's replacement signed sealed and delivered before we sold him, ridiculous.

I keep saying it, but I think we've actually been quite logical about it - well, every other walk of life would find it logical, apart from the crazy world that is football.

We have a very decent prospect in KWP. Why not give him the relative luxury of pre-season for Poch to assess him and make a judgment of where he is at and if he is ready to come into the first team picture? That could potentially save us from having to spend however much in the transfer market on a new player.

We'll find out in the coming weeks whether it's a yay, or its in fact nay and Poch will say we need another right back. Now I'm sure most fans are fucked off they haven't had a shiny new signing and if we do get one it wasn't here on the 1st July and now extra panic is setting in because of injuries, but personally I think you should always look at what you have already before going out and buying, especially if you are a club that purports to be about developing players and putting more faith in the academy.
