Is this the opening shot. Let Martial know we're interested. Then if/when Utd come calling for Rose, drop a Shaw & Martial swap for Rose on the table. If Utd aren't interested, no deal. That's the only deal we'd accept for Rose. That would give us the pacey WF/CF option we've been looking for, and also an instant replacement for Rose, assuming Poch feels he can restore him to his former self. The Saints Shaw is a whole different animal to the current one. I don't buy the injuries have ruined him, I just think he's being mismanaged.
For me, that deal would completely make up for losing Rose, plus we know we'd have players that want to play for us. If the Rose issue is beyond repair that is.
Could we afford their wages, that's a whole different question.
I'd be shocked if we got Martial but this could be a clever strategy to test the waters

If it is a genuine bid thats good even if we dont get him it means we are after that type of player exactly what we need.
if its a wind up I hope its done to unsettle them like they have done with their phoney bids for Rose and Dier bout time someone gave them a dose of their own medicine.

Guess it could depend how badly he wants Danny Rose to replace Luke Shaw.

A striker you've completely demoralised seems a relatively small price to pay.

Yeah I suppose I should of caviated that with 'unless he can get something he wants if us'

Jose had no problem selling mata to united when he was Chelsea manager so its not like he hasn't strengthened a direct rival before.

Only way I can see this happening is if Rose goes the other way.

Martial is being completely wasted at Man U and is still a massive prospect. With us he'd reach his potential I have no doubt about that. Would be a massive coup.

Jose clearly doesn't see Martial as a starter, plus he's openly criticised Shaw. We know he has a boner for Rose. I think there's a deal to be done here. Two players Jose isn't a huge fan of, for a player he openly wants.
Thems the terms Utd, take or leave it, no negotiation will be entertained.

If we add Sanchez for Wimmer, and then add Barkley, all fairly soon, I think going into the last week, a deal like that would be an ideal way round out the window and balance the squad. We'd have added a CB and AM for the price of Wimmer and Walker, plus a WF/CF and LB for Danny Rose. Only area left would be so we go after a RB or make do with Walker-Peters and possibly Sissoko at RWB.

Literally the perfect signing. Premier league experience, can play wide in a 4-2-3-1 or up front in a 3-4-2-1. That's why Mourinho won't let him come to us IMO.

It's all over the United forums...Primariky, Stretford End....fans are furious if true. Admittedly, they know the chap is good and entirely mismanaged by Maureen. COYS

Seems too much of a coincidence that Rose kicks off and then we bid for Martial.

Certainly looks like a 'if we can have one of your players you can have one of ours' type situations.
However, I would also like to see us bring Shaw in as well otherwise we will be light in FBs on both sides.

If we could pick up that pair for the cost of Danny I'd be happy.

Or Dier....Remember how hard they were pushing for him earlier in the transfer window. Might explain our interest in Sanchez as we aren't going to spend £30 million plus on a central defender to sit on the bench.
