Anyone else think it might be a bit risky/too soon to play him against Chelsea next week?

He put in a great performance, but it was against Newcastle. I just think the Chelsea game might be a bit too soon for him.
He had a good game today but as he plays more we will see more what he is about in the final third

As for Chelsea, I would play a back 3 with Dier and KWP as a wingback, him against alonso with Wanyama in the middle
I think there's a decent chance Trippier will be fit for the Chelsea game.

Chelsea won't have Hazard or Pedro, so it's whether or not Poch thinks he can deal with Marcos Alonso

And 3 at the back gives him more cover with Toby covering that side. I'd say it would be too early to start him in a back 4 and I'd rather play Dier at RB is we went that way but, in a back 5, would be a good test for him.

I also think that, because of how good our fullbacks have been, the world has gone a bit gaga for fullbacks. It was always where you put your worst player as they couldn't do much damage. Obviously, it's more important than that but it's weird to see fullbacks going for £50m when, tbh, a good coach should be able to create a £50m right back.

I reckon Trips could be back anyway

Super debut. Coped well with a tricky fecker in Atsu and positive intent going forward. Only blot was the almost penalty, very lucky that it was offside.
If he was not offside, he would have been in a different position where KWP would have taken the ball without seeming to foul him

My main concern is his size. He is very small and slight and I don't see much in his frame/build to suggest that he will grow much more naturally. He will of course fill out a bit and can hit the gym to bulk up. But he will need to develop an aggressive style eg Ashley Cole/Danny Rose to compensate for his lack of physicality.

.
I dont buy into this size thingy. Deli (although taller) is just as wirey and it hasn't affected his ability. Just have faith, we have a gem on our hands here, something alot of us have been saying for sometime now

Truly was a very good match from him. I liked that he wasn't scared of getting himself involved in the game. He didn't produce a whole lot and he was very easily dispossessed a couple of times. But overall, he should be pleased.
Taking the piss again?

Do we have a Danny Rose-Peters in the academy anywhere?

Delighted for him. Glad Poch played him. It can't have been easy making his debut at such a hostile ground. Well done KWP. Really hope we don't buy another right back now. If Tripps isn't going to be out long, I think him and KWP will be more than good enough.

We always play 3 against Chelsea.I think poch would trust KWP more at wing back than sissoko I certainly would.Be very surprised if he doesn't start.

KWP did really well yesterday and may just have saved the club some money. Difficult balance now if we bring in a right back and Trippier and the new RB share the job what sort of message does that give KWP and the other kids looking to break through? They could say he got his chance, did really well and still didn't get another look in. Tough decision for the club.

I also like that he seems to be a really humble lad. Sky interview with a big smile, making a wee speech to the team after getting mom and taking a picture of the ward on the plane. Very endearing and no 'attitude'.

Well done lad, you should be very proud.

The best bit is it took just 90 mins for the consensus to go from

"fucking outrageous we haven't signed a RB, someone needs to pay for this clusterfuck"

to

"no need. Save £25m and put it towards positions where it's needed".

Never change, SC

I can't speak for others but I haven't changed my mind. KWP did well yesterday but I still think we need to buy a RB.

Problem is that when you sign a new player especially this late in the window is that they won't be up to par and always playing catch up with the squad as far as the philosophy and fitness is concerned and of course there's no guarantee that the new player will be better than what we currently have, I mean it's not as he's going to be up to the level of Kyle Walker anyway.

Very pleased Kyle was giving his chance. Only saw MotD but reports seem to be generally positive. Didn't think we needed another right back, hope this has convinced Poch further. Felt Poch's comments about KWP earlier in the summer were more to protect him than to rule him out of contention

Making KWP 3rd choice RB is not going to help his development. It also sends a wrong signal to our other youngsters who believe that Poch has created a meritocracy.
