This thread is living proof of the reaching and the desperation for a signing that occurs among Spurs fans when we havent signed anyone 2 weeks until the window closes. We dont even need a CB and people here are desperate for someone they hadnt heard of until 5 days ago. I guess what I am trying to say is, let it be. If he signs, he signs. If he doesnt, he doesnt. Not the end of the world. We dont exactly need him.
Sanchez is one of the biggest talents we've been linked with this window. How many other players we've been credibly linked to are coveted by Real Madrid?

You're right that CB isn't the biggest need in the squad but it's understandable why people are desperate for this to come off.

A couple of days ago it seemed as though DS only wanted to join Tottenham. I think Real Madrid might be too difficult to pass up for him though. The only thing to do now is hope Barkley signs, Diop signs and Gazzaniga signs. Maybe there is a back up plan for all of these signings if they don't go through, but come Monday morning next week, whether it's plan B or plan Z it's got to be set in motion and players must be added or we can all say good bye to Poch when he leaves to go coach Argentina until the PSG job is vacant.

Also possible that this is the result of a game of telephone from the initial Real Madrid rumor from 2 days ago.

We finished second and we are a couple of good signings away from really competing in four competitions. Unfortunately we are once again in Sissoko territory - money to spend, but targets diminishing by the day.

Every club in England will increase the price when Levy appears with his wheelbarrow, as we are the only team in England that has not signed a single player. Let's cut the bullshit, we are building a great stadium, have fantastic training facilities, but the squad is short of players, and any agent worth his salt will point to our failings and encourage their clients to do a Walker.

Grasp the nettle Daniel or do what you do best and sell those that leave at prices you are not prepared to pay to improve the team.

Olympique Lyon have out bid us on Diop but apparently he wants a London move I read that somewhere not sure, if the Real Madrid thing is True about Davinson Sanchez his head will be turned there I bet.

Barkley or bust at this point.

Tbh I'd rather spend 40m on one good player than 20m on two average players. Been saying that for ages. Sure he's 21, but think about the possible return on investment.

Been saying this about players like lemar too

People are assuming the Real Madrid & Chelsea links are legitimate. They may well be, however have any of our ITK's stated as much ? This may be purely paper talk fed BS by the player's agent or even Ajax themselves to raise the asking price/wages or to attempt to incite a fictitious bidding war ...

Exactly, we've had it throughout the week and with Barkley. I don't know if its just the panic or whether people know something I don't, but why is this being treated as a reliable source? Theres about 5000 other sources suggesting we will reach a deal, but this one Madrid rumour has sent everyone nuts.

Same old, even the unknown targets are blown away by teams well below us in the rich list

still let's have a calm and early game of excuse bingo

It's not easy, there are other clubs, agents and even a selling club to satisfy, they play all sorts of tricks you know

We can't compete with oil money, especially with a stadium to build, might do a Leeds

I think most will be happy if everything comes off

We have the best first eleven anyway, where is x gonna play/who would you drop

Still time, haha

I honestly can't see Madrid going in for him
They already have 3 established CB in Ramos, Varane and Nacho
They have brought back Vallejo from loan, unveiled him as a first team player and given him Pepe's old number
So Sanchez would be a 4th/5th choice CB in a team that plays with 4 at the back (2 CB)
I can't imagine Sanchez wanting to go there and sit on the bench or Madrid paying 45 million euros for him

Who knows anymore? Are we sure this player even exists?

Their source is a radio program and I have no idea how reliable that is. It's Columbian but they've called this deal nearly done half a dozen times now.

Here's the link to the programme if anyone can be bothered to listen.... (not sure I can tbh) http://www.bluradio.com/deportes/agosto-16-blog-deportivo-programa-completo-sin-cortes-150583

It's amazing how football stories float around the world on the basis of nothing...

Ok, so I could be bothered - it's around 30 mins in (in Spanish) - it seems to be based a bit on the currency story in the Guardian - but their Madrid correspondent seems to be pretty sure that Real put in a €45m bid yesterday evening.

Make of it what you will :)
