This is my opinion to that and nothing else. They want another player (wide) to satisfy Jose, player profile could go in a price-range which will put them under pressure to sell Martial. As you can only fit so many players in final third. In the agent world Martial has quietly confidentially offered to specific clubs by his agents, with Yanited's knowledge.

Whatever is happening off the bench with him, I believe (opinion) if someone (Top 4) offered say 60m plus, they certainly would very seriously consider it.
Thanks for the info.

I don't see us paying 60 mill though. We're not shopping at those prices.
There was also ITK that if we brought another player that could back up Kane that Janssen would be moved and there were buyers ready. With a Wimmer sale and Janssen sale we'd still be in the range of something like that.

I think we could afford that, when you look at all the out goings and potential Wimmer fee i think we could be close to 100m to spend. We typically spend within our means but have spent over what we've brought in, in the past.

I'm still trying to work out if the game changer is the experienced south American. It was a bit confusing in here yesterday. Not worth guessing who he might be though.

Hence the "don't pay too attention to Martial" post. It's more about paying attention to whom Man U sign. Until they bring in that other wide attacker Martial stays.

I read it as 'don't pay attention to Martial' as in his actions, like pointing to the club badge after he scored.

Forget Zaha. We've already pissed him off with a silly wage offer. That's why he signed a new deal at Palace.

THIS is the ITK I love as much as who we are after. I appreciate that coming straight out with our targets on a public forum is a thing of the past, unless said players are already being discussed in the main stream media, or we get Harry back as manager. But this type of info, which also comes from Trix, JJ and (the real) Grey Fox, these insights into the inner workings of our club whet my appetite. Love it.

Should we be impressed with a 40m deal for a fairly raw Eredivisie CB? It's hard to tell, but Sanchez was touted for bigger clubs at the start of the summer. Also our talent identification used to be great; Bale, Modric, Alli, Dier, Eriksen etc etc then has been weak the last couple of years. Hopefully Hitchen is getting us in the conversation for better talent again.

If you're buying a CB for £40 million from Ajax (£10 million over their record player sale price I think) and most Ajax fans are still devastated, IMO that tells us that he's a top, top prospect.

Also, even if he flops, he's currently 21. In all likelihood we'd be able to sell him on for a profit regardless.

All in all it's a fairly smart and safe buy despite the large figure involved.

Makes sense considering they seem to have been chasing Perisc all summer also Martial seemes to have a whole host of add on clauses that I'm sure Utd would be wanting not to pay for a player that is not in Joses future plans. Saying that, I can't see Levy forking out 60 mil for a player any time soon, especially after getting DS for 40. And if we were going to be spending that sort of cash I am sure there would be many talents around Europe that we would also be looking at, after all Bernardo Silva only cost 42 mil.

On the one hand, seems like typical Spurs... On the other hand, we've seen FAR too many players who move to Spurs for their "big-money" career-topping move and couldn't be arsed once they are here. If we want to filter it out to players who are hungry and want to prove themselves at Spurs and earn their raises like the rest of the squad has, I'm ok with it. If we truly offered him 40k, I bet there's a couple members of our current squad that I'd rate above Zaha who get paid the same or less.

Think it's a dangerous game to pursue Martial and no one else. I think the chances are slim in all honesty and I hope we have more realistic back up targets. First they've got to be actively looking to offload and it seems that's only gonna happen if Jose gets his player in. Secondly we've got to stump up the cash and hope that others don't come in for him too. A lot needs to happen for us to sign him so I hope we've got a few others we can move for on deadline day if it's not looking like a goer as it's an important signing we need to make. Solely Barkley as an attacking signing isn't really enough for me.

Not so sure.
If we are prepared to pay 40m+ for a defender, we had better be prepared for 60m for an attacking player.

I believe it means we might be selling someone else though.

I always thought that we'd pissed Parish off with a silly transfer fee offer.
