To be honest I think buying young promising players is good business and healthy for the club as a whole regardless of whether hose players fill a need or not.
I think if as expected he comes in he will do very well under pochs coaching methods.

.@ElDia quote Juan Foyth's agent as saying, "it's done" in regards to a transfer to Tottenham. #THFC
"A source from Estudiantes have since denied the agents claim, insisting to @ElDia that "it is a lie that there is agreement.""

Perhaps similar to the Overmars Sanchez interview it's 'done' just not 'pen to paper done'. Or maybe our interest again was a lie to force PSG. Either way Estudiantes seems quite the dysfunctional club.

I don't know where both of you are taking that from, but there's nothing here about that.
To begin with that @Eldia is a newspaper from Tenerife
The newspaper El Dia from La Plata which is the one that talks about Foyth has nothing like that in their website or their twitter feed

“It’s done” – Player’s agent sure second Tottenham transfer sorted, could travel tomorrow

El Dia, who have been excellent from day one of the Juan Foyth drama, have two sides of the story on Saturday, seeming to edge with the one predicting a Tottenham transfer is close.

The Argentine newspaper quote an agent of the player saying: “It’s done.”

There’s even been suggestions to the newspaper that Foyth could travel to England, and London, this weekend, in order to complete a move to Tottenham.

The player’s side of a potential deal is very confident in the transfer, and that leads El Dia to talk generally about Argentina to England moves of the past, pointing out there hasn’t been as many as one may think.

Estudiantes, who had already agreed a deal to sell Foyth to PSG aren’t as sure, and a source at the club has told El Dia “it is a lie that there is agreement between the clubs”, and PSG are said to still be in the race.

Ok, I read the original article now.
The tone of the article is not the one that's suggested in that sportwitness translation
The agent says the deal is done. I interpret that as there's a verbal agreement. Nothing signed yet.
Then they say that Estudiantes is more cautious. But they are inferring it's done by comparing the change in the official word that went from "there's nothing" to "there's no agreement yet"

My opinion on this is that the PSG doesn't exist. It never existed. And now they are going back to our original offer. As the player has already agreed his contract, and now Estudiantes is going back (as their bluff didn't work), the agent is saying that it's done. The club on the other hand, might still be trying to get some sell on clause, but they know their bluff didn't work and they need the money.

When a club comes back to Levy after we call their bluff and prove that their player isn't moving anywhere else, I think they likely will find that he has altered the deal... don't think we really do "going back to our original offer" :sneaky:

‘On Tuesday he’d travel to London’ – Final goodbyes before signing for Tottenham, 90% done

El Dia, who have been prominent on Juan Foyth’s Estudiantes exit since the rumours first started, have an update on the situation in their Sunday edition.

Several days ago, El Dia reported that Tottenham had returned to the picture and were set to beat PSG to the signing of Foyth.

It was a last minute change, and the day before it was expected Foyth would have to give up on his Tottenham dream and sign for PSG instead.

On Saturday, El Dia reported an agent of Foyth saying “It’s done” when asked about the transfer, but a source close to the club told them “it is a lie that there is agreement between the clubs”.

Sunday’s news seems more positive for Tottenham, with Foyth now training separately from his Estudiantes teammates, and fans getting in their last goodbye selfies.

Sources at Estduaintes have now told El Dia the deal is 90% done with Tottenham, but not quite done enough to allow Foyth to travel. Further sources close to the transfer have told the Argentine newspaper that, as long as things don’t collapse… “On Tuesday he’d travel to London.”

PSG remain waiting in the wings should Tottenham again walk away from the deal, but there’s now a genuine sense of confidence that Foyth is going to get his way, and become part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Don't know whether this will cause problems with our attempts to sign Aurier.

Edit; To explain, we're trying to buy Aurier from PSG and PSG allegedly want Foyth. Not too complicated is it?

They want him gone (aurier), they'll take our money. Not like we are pipping them to mbappe, it's a kid they may not even want any more, plus Foyth choose us, not our fault.
