Not itk bashing here but 7 signings in less than 2 weeks (Barkley, foyth, aurier, Sancho, sess, gazza, martial) is surely a tough ask

Props to Danny boy if he gets it done

Can't discount Tippier's involvement post January and whilst Rose is arguably superior to Davies, the fact remains our title bid was not derailed because of Rose's absence/Davies' prolonged involvement.

Gaining Martial gives our attack another dimension - one we don't have currently whilst we can nurture a prodigious talent in Sessegnon.

Our team overall will be better if what has been alluded to with potential incomings comes to fruition.

Not discounting Trippier's involvement at all.

The point I'm making is that losing both our full backs in the same window would be very tough to swallow.

I was watching a full re-run of our 2-0 against Chelsea at the lane the other day. What stood out to me was just how involved Rose and Walker were. Eriksen got both assists for Dele's headers, but who was supplying Eriksen? Walker for both goals. In fact it was his acceleration/pace that gives Eriksen the space and time for the second goal.

Rose would also massively strengthen United. They've got a powerful right back in Valencia, this really would round off their side completely.

Remember that as much as today's ITK has been positive, until things are done and being tweeted by @SpursOfficial, there's plenty of space between cup and lip for a traditional Spurs-style slip. Historically we are nothing if not experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so despite the good vibes keep it uppermost in mind that we're not over the line with any of these deals yet!

Post of the day...

Though I don't think it will be hard to complete the deals for Foyth and Gazza

Yeah it may be hard but not impossible. Think about it, Gazzaniga and Foyth are basically done now anyway according to ITK. Barkley is all but agreed apart from a fee with Everton, so it's not like we're starting to negotiate these deals now. Many of these have been in the pipleline for a few weeks now.

Yesterday's match showed how crippling playing with two slow wingbacks is to us. It allows opposing defenses the ability to make the pitch much more narrow, clogging the middle and congesting the space that our attacking players operate in.

We need a viable pacey option on each side, if we sold Rose then the squad as it currently stands would be without one on either. If we absolutely had to sell one player to United to get Martial then I'd much sooner it be Dier than Rose.

Good news! If this is true then it wasn't done in-house.

I believe there was something in Barkley thread about a Snapchat of him in some Bupa shorts, very spurious but ties in.

If not Sessegnon early on when we offered him a deal...

I'd be willing to trade Rose out to get Martial, mainly because unlike most it seems I think Davies is good enough as he proved again last season. Danny's knee and attitude means the risk, providing we do get Sessegnon in as well, is worth taking. Can't see the trade costing us more than 10m, the amount we are actually up to date.

Sessegnon and Barkley would cost another 50m, which we could cover by selling Wimmer, Sissoko, Janssen and GKN.

This is 100% correct. We played very well down the stretch without Rose and with Trippier playing against the toughest opponents. Indeed, if any change could have turned our season into one with a Premier League title, it would have been with greater depth in the attacking third (to be honest, we were so close to winning it, three goals gives us the title, a few more lucky bounces would have done it). Rose is not the difference-maker in a title-winning side. Martial may very well be.

I am not sure if we have enough time to sell 4 players in 10 days

To be honest I'd be prepared to lose rose if it meant

Sessegon
Barkley
Aurier
Martial
Sancho

All coming in as previous itk has suggested would to be honest his injury record is not great, it's great to see all this positive news on transfers for once great to see the excitement on here :)

At the moment I'd be willing to pass on Martial if the only way to sign him meant letting Mourinho have Rose. Last season our full backs were integral to our style of play, and while Trippier and Davies are fine players and better than a lot of teams' first choice full backs, neither have the pace and athleticism of Walker and Rose which is arguably the most important aspect a full back needs for Pochettino's game.

Our main problem last season was lack of depth, not lack of quality either defensively or offensively. Barkley would add attacking depth, as will a returning Lamela. Maybe even Sancho/Edwards could do as well.

Especially playing this season on a bigger pitch, I think swapping Rose for Martial would be one step forward, two steps back. But Sanchez, Barkley, Foyth, Sancho and Sessegnon would be a great window (although presumably Sessegnon may also depend on Rose as well).

Really positive ITK tonight, thanks @Gyid & @Hercules.

If I trust anybody to turn raw, potential talent like Sancho and Sessegnon into superstars, it's Mauricio Pochettino.

Looks like it's going to be a few players for now, and a few for the future. But all very exciting, and hopefully its all going to come together and cement our place at the top table for years to come.

Could Gards ITK that the final signing may come at a loss be a financial loss & not a player loss. Could it be finally a POSITIVE net spend?
