Fingers crossed for this. He'd more than fill the void Walker has left. And on his past, not every player who's come through Spurs has been a saint. VdV, Gazza, even Ledley made bad mistakes. People have short memories. As long as this kid keeps his head on straight and does the business on the pitch anything else will be quickly forgotten. Also, the lad who scored a brace against on the weekend has done much, much worse. Not sure I saw too many Chelsea fans complaining on Sunday...
But have you seen his hair?!

If the appeal has been heard, you'd assume we wouldn't be working on this too hard if the result was in doubt.

Here's an article from the gffn twitter account:

Tottenham close to an agreement with PSG for Serge Aurier
Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur were last night thrashing out the final details of a fee agreement with PSG for the transfer of Ivorian full-back Serge Aurier worth more than €25m, according to L’Équipe.

Aurier has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham, he did so about 10 days ago on a five year contract.

Aurier is Mauricio Pochettino’s priority, with the manager having spoken at length with the player about a possible move.

The deal is subject to a resolution of Aurier’s legal situation; on the 26th September last year the 24-year-old was sentenced to two months in prison for attacking a police officer. A conviction that his team have appealed against.

His lawyer is currently working on an official document that stipulates the outcome of the appeal (which has already been decided but has not been made public) and the non-sentencing of the player to time in prison; but he has not yet obtained it. Several law firms are working on getting this document.

If produced, this document would go a long way to Aurier receiving a work permit; if Aurier does not get that work permit, the deal with Tottenham will be annulled.

In this situation, Inter Milan and Juventus both have agreements over personal terms with Aurier, but he wants the Premier League. Juve want to buy him and then loan him out until January because they do not have another non-EU spot left in their squad; Inter Milan want to do an exchange with PSG including João Mario.

Both potential deals, at the time of writing, have considerable pitfalls for PSG and Aurier.

^^ We must be privy to the outcome, which I assume has been successful, as otherwise we wouldn't have pursued a deal.

Imagine the next step is to produce this document to allow him to apply for a work permit.

Interesting. Going on that piece we should be all good for a work permit. Wonder why it's not been made public

If his appeal was successful maybe they don't want to rock the boat as you know people would more than likely say he got away with it because he's a footballer.

I doubt PSG are going to make an announcement about an appeal against a criminal conviction (which is a private matter).

If Levy was in France yesterday, that would be 2 weeks since the hearing. Perhaps it requires 2 weeks before this is made public, if so the public verdict is imminent and a deal can be done soon.

On the plus side this whole legal case has made him a very famous man. Danny Rose will be delighted.

The term bureaucracy has its roots in French for a reason. Don't hold your breath on this being sorted out imminently.

If this guy doesn't get let in but murderer Alonso does then something is very wrong

I do not remember our press picking this up. I had to google to see about the case. As you say it looks like he got away with murder by paying off the family and accepting his guilt. He also didn't even get a driving ban:mad: I am also amazed that the crowds do not get on his back.

Although I agree very strongly with you, alonso is an EU national so the situation is different (rightly or in this case wrongly)

I read somewhere online last week that his appeal was successful and he was waiting for the relevant paperwork clearing his name to come through.

I haven't since seen this reported anywhere else so i don't know how much truth there was to the piece i read.

He got a 4yr driving ban.
She was a passenger in his car and was accoring to reports not wearing a seatbelt. Does not excuse Alonso or the stupid court ruling. It is also involuntary manslaughter though, not murder. Semantics, but legally important.

Either way, the fact that Chelsea ignored this and signed him anyway speaks volumes about that wretched club.

I do hope we have our facts straight on Aurier, he is a quality footballer, but morally I would like to think we are not doing the wrong thing here (obviously supposedly assaulting a policeman and a drink driving death are a tad different, but you know what I mean).

Now if we could only add Draxler to the deal, if he really is only going for 38 mil, that is an incredible price. I know he will probably end up at Utd, but lord how good he would be for us. Him and Aurier would be incredible additions to the first team, alongside Sancho and Sess.

IF Draxler went to United, would that free up Martial to us? Would you prefer Draxler to come to us over any potential Martial deal?
