@Luka Van der Bale I didn't want to quote you in the ITK thread for fear of taking the discussion off topic, but do you, or anyone for that matter, know if we have to agree a fee with City for Sancho, or, as he's a youth player, is it possible to sign him on a 'free' and pay a tribunal fee?

Adding the likes of Phil Foden, Reiss Nelson, Tammy Abraham, Rashford, Prime Kane, Prime Alli, Prime Stones etc to that list. England's chances of the 2022 WC don't look so bleak... Although inevitably a few of them won't live up to their potential.

And quite as inevitably England will have a shit manager in charge incapable of getting them to perform as a team!

Apparently the reason he wants out of City is because he doesn't think he'll get any game time with them so you'd think he's had some assurances from us. I agree he really is a special talent.

Training with the first team here is a step up from what he's doing at City though isn't it?

The chance to take part in first team training at THFC is a chance to show he's able to play at the top level. It doesn't sound like he believes he'd get that chance in Manchester.

It seems there's a year left on his deal, so a fee would have to be negotiated with City.

Twosips, main ITK on bluemoon:

Sancho to Spurs today. Bit gutted given his potential, but c'est la vie.

So I've just spoken to a mate at work that is a City fan. He's based up in our Crewe office, I'm down south, so this was over IM:

Not sure why he wasn't part of the Walker deal.
I think the Walker deal was a lot simpler. He wanted City and we were happy to let him go for the money. It seems City have been trying to keep hold of Sancho all summer and he has given himself plenty of time to make his mind up.

get in if true.!! if we get these youngsters in, then it further sends signals that we are a club for the now and future.

May not mean anything and I don't like to out him, but a certain costume wearing Pug from the far east liked my post.

Make of that what you will.

All starting to sound very promising.
I'm wondering if the uplift in Nkoudou rumours is linked to Sancho coming in? Making room for him to be the player we thought we were getting with Nkoudou.
In truth, with Lamela coming back and hopefully Barkley joining, there's not instant expectation on Sancho, but equally the opportunity will be there to add the dynamism on the ball we've been trying to bring in.

Now he seems set to sign with us, I've watched a few YouTube compilations and he does look very promising.

However, in all the clips I watched it looks like he plays exclusively from the left, cutting inside onto his favoured right foot. Given Hercules' earlier info that if Sancho signs then he will be in contention for some proper first team game time, it seems we're bringing him in in a position we're already stacked in. Of our attacking midfielders, Dele and Son both usually play down the left (albeit all of our AMs drift into different areas at times), but we have such scant cover on the right (Eriksen now playing there sorta out of position, and who knows when/if Lamela will ever play for us again) that we've gone to the extreme measure of giving Sissoko minutes on that right hand side.

All for Sancho signing, but we now seem very overloaded in the left AM slot, and yet still sorely understocked for the right hand side. Strange one.
