With all due respect to those passing on the info, I can't get past the thought of Mourinho and United trolling us with this one...

I really hope we have another target of the same ilk elsewhere because I can 100% see Utd stringing us along until the last moment. I really just don't want to loose Rose or Dier in this deal.

I can only see Martial coming to Spurs if Rose goes the other way. All EPL teams are desperate to avoid strengthening their rivals. The only way round this is if it's mutually beneficial.

If Man Utd lose Martial but gain Rose are they stronger in terms of first XI and squad? Yes

Reverse that question and if Spurs source another left back then they've also benefitted.

It would also stop the narrative that if you get interviewed whiny ing about your wages on radio you get to leave.

We have done deals for players back and forth with Swansea so it's beyond.

I'd be in favour of this sort of proposal.

I doubt it will happen myself, but there is hope. Anyone says it's dead has not told Daniel.

All I'm worrying about is an eggs in one basket situation. I hope he's not our only serious forward target we're latching onto so late into the window.

Agreed. We should not be pursuing this unless we think there is a high chance it will happen. It's all likely to collapse on deadline day and we're going to be scrambling an hour before the window. There are plenty of other quality forwards we can target but we have to move on if it's really not looking likely. This is now an important signing to make especially looking st our CL group. We need real depth in the squad.

The question is if there is a deal to be done do we want to strengthen Yanited and end up short a left sided defensive player, not that it matters it's clear with two games won they're going to win the league so we may as well.

Just imagining Levy and Woodward:

"Okay, we'll exchange Rose and Martial's contracts after 3, no cheating.....1...2...no you moved too soon...right start again."

It may follow then, if Levy is of the same mind, that if we are pursuing this, we think there is a high chance it will happen.

How many wild goose chases have we been on though late in the window?

Leandro, Baptista, Moutinho, Berahinho to name a few.

With us drawing against Madrid (whom I have a sneaky feeling is DL's other team he loves), maybe this will urge him to pull out the stops for one 'Big' signing to compete with them?

Could Hercules info be brand new, and Trix's just slightly out of date? Hence us not to give up until DL does.

Not knocking you @Trix at all, just trying to find some positive in the difference you both have.

Move on and get someone else, and we need someone good to get out of that CL group. Sancho, Sessegnon, Foyth would be great for future but we need someone who can contribute this season.

Difference of opinion here Clive.....

Was told we have moved on as the stakes were too high.
Kind of sounds like they could string us along so we miss out on other targets. Never trust Jose.

If we're spending £30/40m there's plenty of excellent forwards we can get. What about Timo Werner for example? Could be gettable with a substantial offer.
