Too dear for us. At £70M, only way it's happening is Rose + £15-£20M. Martial is exactly what we need but highly doubtful we will have the appetite at those kind of numbers while at the same time weakening ourselves us at LB. Would need to strengthen at LB and not sure we'd have much more funds to play with in terms of bringing a replacement in

The only slim chance of it happening is if we were to move on Janssen, Wimmer and Sissoko and raise a reasonable amount. However, if they move, don't see them moving until right at the death. Even so, think it also depends on Utd being able to bring in a wide player of there own.

Can imagine we've tentatively looked at it but it's the kind of deal where the odd's are stacked against us and requires a series of other things to fall in place (on both sides) before the chances of it actually happening become serious and just don't see it think it will.

Hopefully we have a few other irons in the fire in terms of a quick, pacey player to play in the wider areas..

70 million for a player of Martial's age and ability, and potential, is about right.

If we end up moving on a few others, fetching a decent wedge, maybe we do a deadline special and get Martial for 60 million plus.

Sounds unlikely but he'd be one young special player, with a skill set we're crying out for, who has experience in this league we should go for.

70 million in today's climate isn't aggressively pricing him out of a move either.

Looking at the bigger picture he'd improve our side that much, as he offers things we lack, others I'm sure would look even better with him in the side.

Think 25 is a stretch for VJ as is (but possible if you believe old ITK about having multiple teams interested with a value of at least what we paid for him), but you tack on the sell on clause and it's even more far fetched.

Burnley just paid £15m for Chris Wood.

Actually think 70m is under his market value still

If Levy is even considering a £70m package for Martial that's a good sign IMHO. I'd prioritise that over every other deal but Aurier. Even Barkley however I guess Levy sees that as a bargain that's too good to pass up. Love for Sessegnon next summer.

If we could keep Rose and get Martial our squad would be insane. Which is also why it's never happening.

Simple - If 70m is the fee, I can't see the club like us paying it.
Only way we are getting Martial this window is if we trade Rose to the other side. If its just gonna be cash, we are not doing it.

For 50m, there are number of other players out there, who could do a similar job as Martial.

A £70m package, believe me, is a bargain for this kid. Would take us into boss territory. Plus his stock will rise in years to come. Win win really.

Don't bring the stadium into it buddy. Affects nothing. If we raised the money on top of the existing budget, with pending sales which is very substantial. We then can afford these 'smart' desls. Not that I advocate we will pay that, but know the mindset is there for the right player.
Exactly it's an investment not a cost. He's proven he's decent in the Prem so there's no foreigner risk, he will only get better in time and his value will subsequently skyrocket.

All thats nice. But we won't pay 70m. I cannot see Levy doing a deal above 50m - even thats a stretch. We got to be realistic

We can realistically sell Sissoko, Janssen and Nkoudou to make this happen particularly if Sancho and Barkley sign soon. Should be able to pocket at least £40m for all those.

We'd then have Kane, Martial and Son as strikers with Barkley, Eriksen, Lamela, Alli and possibly Sancho as another option if he's ready. Perfect mix right there of having depth in quality whilst not too many numbers which keeps everyone happy. I'd rather us keep Janssen but if it's necessary to sell him to get Martial then I'm for it.

Sanchez 40m
Aurier 22m
Barkley 20m (being optimist)
Sancho 3m
Martial 70m

Total 155m

I don't see Levy spending all that money, but then I didn't think he would sanction a 40m deal for a young CB from Ajax, so who knows

Even though Martial is the player I want us to sign the most, I think we should be trying to sign Draxler instead. We can afford his wages (100k euro p week), he's on the transfer list, and would probably cost much less than Martial
Does he double up as a striker though? Don't think we could sell VJ to get him.

Add to that Sessegnon that JJ said was 'looking good'. Makes me pretty sceptical too and makes me wonder if Rose could be sacrificed. Walker has gone for 50 though and we've made 30-40m from Njie, Fazio, Carroll and Bentaleb. We could also raise another 40m by selling Sissoko, GKN and Janssen so we could potentially have raked in around £130m worth of sales.
