How frustrating! I'm not surprised £3m wasn't enough - didn't we pay twice that for 17 year old Gareth Bale, long before the current hike in transfer fees? It's almost nothing in terms of today's money... Will be gutted if we lose out on a rea prospect like Sancho because of penny pinching in this way. I know we haven't got City / Chelsea / Utd scale money, but surely investing a bit more in this lad now would pay off later...?

PS Thanks Gards for the info - not your fault it's frustrating.
Mate, Gareth bale made 40 appearances for Southampton's first team. Sancho has never even been in city's squad.

But he did win player of the tournament on a pretty large stage. I can see why they want more compensation, I just don't know why Spurs won't pay it. He will definitely be worth it. Worst case scenario is he turns out to be another D. Sturridge.

When our manager nearly states that he's expecting gazzaniga + another 4, and an ITK who our lovely mods clearly are happy with (or else he would not post so freely in this thread with his news) such as @Hercules has been repeating that pretty consistently (unless I've misunderstood), I think we should all just breathe easy and trust that good things will happen.

We currently have 23 players in the squad and only seven of them meet the english quota. That means we must buy at least one player to meet the english quota rules and we can only buy one more overseas player. With all the current ITK I cannot get the maths to work. I think the inability to move Sissko and others is giving dear old Danny a problem and that is what is holding up the deals we want.

Don't know about easily get more from the tribunal.
Nobody has bid for him so they will go by what he has achieved.
He is not a full international, the highest level internationally is u20.
He has not started or been used as a sub for city. He has only been there 2 years and only has one year left on his contract which is not a professional one. He is 17.

This will all determine his fee. Not how good people think he will be. That's not how the tribunals work.
Yeah that's what I thought as well, someone in the other thread read all the rules and the tribunal fee seems to top out at £5m, maybe city are just being ****s and are holding out for that.

So Sancho - tribunal / we haven't offered enough

Barkley - out for 3 months / Chelsea looking to outbid us

Aurier - touch and go whether he'll be allowed into the country / Juventus in for him

Sessegnon - player wants to come but Fulham not playing ball

Martial - player up for it but United never going to sell to us

Balde - club up for selling to us but player only wants Juve

And a week to pull 3 or 4 of these off. Should be interesting.

Think gards meant that we offered £3m which was turned down (@Gyid correct me if i'm wrong). Who knows how much city want?
Correct! It seems city have gone against the agreement, the lad is homesick which is part of the reason for him wanting to return to London.

Gyid is on point, but not all over. Club frantically becoming very aggressive and clinical in their pursuits. I did hint we don't want another William.
A lot of these agents have no loyalty, or morals. They will string a club along, whilst enticing another club.

Midst all this, rats can be smelt a mile off. Btw, stop listening to this twitter twaddle;)

Would they get more at a tribunal? He's only been there two years and hasn't played for them yet.

Levy does seem to love a challenge.

Then he needs to go play golf and stop mucking about in the transfer window and just get it done. Obviously it's more complicated than him being picky, but at some point someone has to say pay what they want or move on to someone else, right?

Yeah but Southampton were in the Championship at the time, Bale was an International already... and it was 10 years ago! Even if the transfer market prices hadn't gone bonkers this year, 10 years of inflation would be a fair old whack.

Could we hear anything concrete by the time we play Burnley?

Suspect we'll have start looking at the alternatives or Poch isn't going to get the extra 3 he's suggesting, just hope they're not Fazio or Sissoko.
