And when there are no legal issues what will stop him signing for United. Seems like we are wasting time chasing a kid who walked out on his club, a right back who prefers another in, while we wait on Barkley who is injured.
Are we a wealthy club ? Can we identify good players who don't have issues.one injury to Kane and we are furled. Comedy gold .

Jesus Christ mate I bet you’re fun at parties.

If there were no legal issues he would of signed for Yanited, and we would of pursued 2 other RB's we all know about!

This baffles me for a number of reasons.

1. If the legal issues put United's lawyers off, why were ours so confident of the outcome?

2. Surely we are taking a big risk to be choosing, of all the right backs mentioned, the one with the perceived most questionable attitude, and it now comes to light, that he wanted United? Surely a problem next year if they come calling which we may not have had with the others as much?

Although I could also look at it as Poch getting his number one target proving that Levy is backing him to the hilt, to the point of negotiating a deal as complicated as this one.

Interesting @Hercules . Thanks as ever (y)

Of all the irons in the fire at the moment this is by far the most necessary for us, the wide open spaces of Wembley need rapid fullbacks to exploit them, really need this fella or failing this pereira!

Most of the players we've signed over the last 20 years would have probably preferred utd.

Our system is hugely reliant on our fullbacks ability to get into the play high up the pitch. Walker & Rose are/were the blueprints for what we need. Athleticism second to none, and intense work rate. Trippier and Davies are solid backups that have ability on the ball, but just lack that dynamic edge. Aurier will bring that balance back, once Rose is fit too.

We have had opportunities to look at other options, but perhaps Aurier's issues allowed us to get a player a tier up from Pereira and Toljan etc, when others were hesitating.

I think what Herc is saying is on an open market with no personal issues Utd would have gone hard and got him. We've had a look, sensed an opportunity and got a deal agreed. This is a top drawer player here.

I'm sure Aurier appreciates that effort from us and by the sounds of it he's met Poch and is impressed. I'd imagine he's looking forward to playing for us now, seems proud enough to talk to journos about it.

This transfer (fingers crossed still) has a few Hitchen fingerprints on it I reckon.
