Stoke are getting him for a pretty good price, considering how the market's ridiculously inflated these days. I'm a bit surprised Levy didn't try to squeeze a bit more out of them. Maybe Stoke have somebody as shrewd and tough as Levy on their side of the table.

Much too cheap but we no longer hold the cards because of squad size and English grown talent. I get the feeling Levy has got himself into a mess. Our approch does not add up.

He hardly ever played for us, maybe 5 or 6 times and we stand to make £10 million profit so good business now we have got Sanchez.

Exactly, but they (Stoke) are getting a great bargain. I think Wimmer is an excellent player who's talent should be judged on the season before last when he played for about a third of the season after Jan was injured. He was quite brilliant considering his inexperience.

We made a problem for ourselves when Jan walked back into the team and Wimmer was left out. By the time he played again for us his head had dropped and I'm guessing he had already decided to leave for first team football.

In fairness to Levy, Wimmer has waited long enough to leave and its a fair price for a player who we aren't going to play. He'll be a star at Stoke though.

I'm sorry to hear he's off. True he wasn't first choice but he had a run in the first team when Jan was injured the season before last and did very well. One problem is a lack of strength in depth and Wimmer was one of those players needed as cover. I wish him well.

Open to thoughts - Is MoPo Planning this:

Lloris
Jan, Sanchez,Toby
Aurier Dier/Wanyama Rose (Davies)
Dembele
Eriksen Dele
Kane

Thereby getting some width and pace back into the team without having to purchase final third players?
Aurier & Rose as proper wing backs?

I do not agree with your assumption of the profit level. The price for him should be £20m+ as he has been with a Prem club and experience that Stoke/Palace/WBa want. Thew market is crazy and Danny boy is selling short.

It's not fair on the player to keep him. Haggling is one thing but its near the end of the window and Levy will have to bend.

What if no club offered more than 15/18m what is DL meant to do, invoice them for 20m+ anyway ?

That was my point in the original post that dear old Danny boy has fecked up in his plan and has had a poor game plan. Now seems to be £18m which is better.

I'd like to think that the relatively low price is a way of ensuring that Wimmer, who has never caused any hint of a problem and who has spent all of last year on the bench without complaint, gets the move he wants so that he can play again.

What the fuck is wrong with football that we buy someone for about £3m, hardly play him then sell him for £18m?!!

It wasn't that many years ago that £18m was more than our record spend!

It's insulting to me that I spend £100 a month on Sky and a large chunk of that is funding this madness. I would cancel but it'll make no difference.
It's worse since the anti monopolist rule came in. Add another £10 a month for BT and there will be more eventually.
